Apparently channeling an ignorant character that he sometimes plays on his TV show, comedian Stephen Colbert tweeted on Thursday, I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever.
Since then, racial outrage has ensued and the hashtag #CancelColbert has been trending nationally on Twitter. However, in this instance, some context is important. Mediaites Josh Feldman explains:
Stephen Colbert, in case you didnt know this, plays a character on his TV show. A character that is purposefully ignorant. As hes said in the past, I do the show in character and hes an idiot; hes wilfully [sic] ignorant of everything were going to talk about. So bear that in mind as you read about people on Twitter calling for Colbert to be cancelled because of a tweet the show sent out that said some purposefully ignorant things.

If the skit wasn't offensive, why should the tweet? Because of the lack of context? Well, provide the context then. Don't be a coward and delete the tweet.
But then, Libs are cowards.
They’re”Eating Their Own”??
It is considered poor manners to make fun of a group that you are not a part of. Jeff Foxworthy and his compatriots make fun of themselves, so it is okay, we can laugh at ourselves. What is not okay is for someone who is an admitted liberal in real life to make fun of conservatives. This is tantamount to a white person putting on blackface to make fun of blacks. Plus, he gets us all wrong.
Am I the only one who thinks Steven Colbert is The Governor of Connecticut ? :)
I don’t think it’s quite so broad. He’s not really making fun of conservatives per se, but rather “conservative” blowhard pundit types - the Hannitys and O’Reillys of the world. Who, to be frank, deserve every bit of mocking that comes their way, from whatever direction.
Uh oh! Making fun of orientals is a slippery slope. He might just receive a visit from a chink in armor. He will probably claim it was an Occidental mistake.
It’s like when Archie talks about watermelon seeds flying out the window if blacks are allowed to move in, and the studio audience is laughing uproariously. Are we to believe they are laughing at the idea that anyone can be so ignorant, or do they find what he says funny? There was a SNL skit where people were running a telethon and saying the most outrageously racist stuff while the audience howled with laughter. Like with Archie, I chalked it up to liberals laughing at race jokes they were enjoying.
Exactly. It was okay to laugh because a "Conservative" was saying it.

Partisan Media Shills ping. Colbert should have been thrown into a wood chipper a long time ago. Thanks Texas Eagle.
The cool thing is the people who are upset with Colbert are MAD at WHITE LIBERAL ELITES.
That’s great. It works for us.
It’s the same bunch of haters - white liberal elites - who attack conservatives, southern whites, the middle class, conservative Jews, Asians, and conservative blacks and anyone else with traditional values - nice to see an elite get a little blowback...
“But this isnt about white liberals wanting to change the name, or their devotion to destroying settler-colonialism: Its about their feeling entitled to make jokes about The Other in the name of progress.
