The United States Congress does not work for us.
As in you and me.
I have come to this somber conclusion after reading enough articles, blogs, facts, and budget numbers to make an actuary cross-eyed.
And I feel more at peace now because I can say wow, that explains a lot. That explains everything.
I wont inflict blindness on you by citing every possible statistic here.
Heres a few:
⁃ Starting Congressional Base Salary $174,000 ⁃ Average First Year Attorney Salary - Washington DC: $160,000 ⁃ Total Congressional Pay + Expenses (not including office expenditures): $233,000,000 ⁃ Estimated Total Campaign Funding in 2014: $1,049,000,000
The amount spent on Congress includes expenses and benefits for active members (not including pensions and other fringe benefits that cant easily be tracked).
It costs 4 times the amount the government spends on Congress to elect them to office every 2 years (6 years for Senate).
The parties have a $74 million war chest, after raising $364 million in 2013. The Super PACs raised an additional $141 million so far.
Common sense rule: you work for who pays you.

I nominate Gladys Kravitz of Bewitched ......
"Got yer name down in me book!"
Was there even a vote? How did you get elected “Watchers” watcher?
There are going to be some upset folks (left out of the nomination), over this.
Some things do not require a vote.
you iz exert 2
We know they can't legally vote.
Get used to me.
I will be around for a while
Jayster says "Get used to me. I will be around for a while"
Jayster, you see, has appointed himself "Watcher of Watchers." (Posting History)
That is, he's monitoring those who monitor Blog Pimps in general and humblegunner specifically.
I'd stick around for more of the introductory festivities, but The BLattingOG is calling. It's way past his dinner time.
How long is "a while"?
I've seen them come, and seen them go.
Interestingly enough, more than few in this last year or so have been zotted sometime after getting seriously crosswise with myself. I admit to having purposely set one guy up, and the most recent zottee-- I had made reply towards for reasons of highlighting -- "hey everbuddy look at this guy".
The next day, he just kept on pitching a fit, and got the ol' ZOT-ola, sad as it may have been, for that person does have feelings, and many of us here do hope he'll be able to get the victory over them, and learn how to not be bothered too overly much when encountering disagreement.
He'd been around for years...was a little stiff, not exactly dumb perhaps, but interpersonal skill-set "challenged" so thusly dense, shall we say(?) That doesn't make the guy into being a bad guy thru-and thru, but it did make him frequently be a pain-in-the-forum. So good-byes were made...
Of course this getting on little old "me's" bad side, doesn't exactly equate to universal zot, either (ha! at times I wish it were)...but you pays your money, and you takes your chances, bub. I might be one of the bellwethers around here ('cept I still have a pair). Get me ringing my bell...and some folks will be hearing it. Danger, danger Dr. Smith (lol).
Now if you would prefer to listen to reason, as in give some acknowledgement to those having made complaint against yourself (which promoted counter-grievance within yourself, which grievance you have dragged from one thread to another-- which is frowned upon) as they equally give many or most all others --- who do much as you did; which is to have needlessly excerpted from their own blogs (or personal writings) --- before then just going on doing whatever/however blows your skirts up the most, you might get more respect, provided if you can do it with a smile, instead of a defensive "I'm-a gonna' getchu!" internet tough-guy routine. Nobody wants to hear that [expletive deleted].
Until then, whatever. I'm not all that impressed. Or scared, either.
Whatcha' gonna do, boy? Complain to a moderator? You can do that...but this place is expected to be more than not self-moderating, while pansy-pants whining complaints just irritate the management (usually).
Those who cannot moderate themselves --- can get the heave-ho. Some who can't --- in numerous example can stick around for 'a while' irritating folks, as much or more than helping out in the overall cause. In regards to some individuals, it can go on for years before enough is enough.
There are MANY OTHERS here who have seen them come and go too, which could bear witness to what I'm here telling you.
I've been around on this forum since '97 or '98 (at the latest) at those earlier times under a different name (but one I'd just a soon not divulge to you -- for as of this writing, I owe you next to nothing).
Like I said, I've seen them come and go...but I'm still standing, eh? I even have a few friends, or at least friendly acquaintances, and have had the pleasure to get to know through written correspondence a great many of people here who it would my own pleasure to share whatever fire I had with...with some of those being even persons who I've had come tear into me very personally (rhetorically, of course) for some reason or another...but I need not go trudging up those small mountains naming names, for I know who they are --and whatever offense they gave me way back when --- is forgiven now, and we never need mention it further.
It can be that simple.
