The Obama administration is smarting over having egg on its face after the US Senate failed to confirm the nomination of Debo Adegbile for the head of the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice. In a stunning defeat after Harry Reid changed the rules were a nomination could now pass on a simple majority, the final tally was 47-52 against Adegbile. Democrats even brought in Joe Biden to cast the tiebreaking vote in order to confirm the nomination. However, seven Democrats (most likely looking at the upcoming midterm elections) split and voted against the nomination.
When Obama nominated Debo Adegbile for the post, it immediately raised an uproar from the law enforcement community. Adegbile worked tirelessly on behalf of convicted cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, who killed Daniel Faulkner in 1981 in front of four witnesses and later bragged about the murder. Adegbile worked on behalf of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund who used the same old tired racial rhetoric to get the conviction overturned. Many critics of Adegbile believe the he took the defense of Abu-Jamal not on legal defense grounds, but rather to foster and promote a political cause.
Even more disgraceful is that Faulkner's widow, Maureen Faulkner, was not allowed to testify before Congress about the nomination of Debo Adegbile. This is a sickening aspect of how liberals think and act. A murderous cop killer is celebrated and documentaries are made about him, but the murdered cop and his family are treated like garbage and silenced. Maureen Faulkner showed tremendous courage and dedication and personally reached out and contacted many senators to express her disapproval of the nomination.
Obama made this nomination through the lens of his own twisted ideology. This was a direct thumb in the eye to law enforcement. When news of the failed nomination reached the White House, Obama had a hissy fit and released a statement that was more befitting a teenage girl angry over how Twilight ended as opposed to being the president of the United States. Obama said, "The fact that his nomination was defeated solely based on his legal representation of a defendant runs contrary to a fundamental principle of our system of justice -- and those who voted against his nomination denied the American people an outstanding public servant."
The American people were not denied an outstanding public servant. They were saved from yet another far left nutjob who views the law and justice only through a liberal race-based lens where murderers are victims and the true victims are deserving of their fate.
Wish he’d throw a hissy on camera.
Wish he’d throw a hissy on camera.
Do you mean the Brink’s robbery that took place in Oct. 1981, just before Barry [whose apartment was 4 blocks from Ayers’] disappeared to Pakistan for what was apparently about a year? No - that dark-skinned person hasn’t been found; his time has never been accounted for. Same as Barry’s hasn’t been accounted for. What an interesting and curious coincidence.
Yep. We’re on the same page! Cold case detectives need to look at that case again
Maybe they are aiming for high black turnout in the those states.
I don’t know why Begich voted for it. Maybe the natives generally want Obama to get his way on the civil rights picks.
That's not why it was defeated. 0bama lies again. DDSOS
Obama always scrapes the bottom of the barrel for his nominees and apointees. This time he went under the barrel and found this Dogpile guy.
Here comes the story of Barack Hussein
The White Man he came to blame
For something that he never done
Nah....more like channeling his inner “Nation of Islam” member. Calypso Louie is a fan of the bow tie.
What surprised me was that my Sen., Bob Casey voted NO. He is a usual rubberstamp for all things Obama wants. Now I know that there is the PA connection (Phila cop) but Casey is usually “screw PA...what’s best for Barack?!?”
I am truly shocked to see Lyin' Joe Munchkin on the right side of anything. He has spent the last 3 years being 0bama's butt-boy.
So, seven Dem Senators voted against Barack Obama’s nominee, while Lois Lerner was once again pleading the fifth in the IRS investigation, Putin is swallowing up the Crimean peninsula, a Russian warship is sitting in Havana harbor, and Obama had to completely neuter his signature legislation.
All this in what, a week’s time?
This vote may be the first indication that the Democrats realize, finally, that if they don’t begin to reign Obama in, he will take down the whole party. We may not have to impeach this guy, the Dems may pay him a visit and suggest that he consider early retirement, for medical reasons, of course.
not to worry,
obammy will simply seek out someone even less qualified, someone who hates the U.S.A. even more thAN THIS SLUG.
The same Brink’s robbery where the cops blew out the rear window of one of the escape vehicles, occupied by several unidentified individuals, with a shotgun blast. Whilst it has been noted that Barry has several jagged scars on the back of his head that have never been addressed.
The same!
Don’t suppose there’s any DNA sitting around that’s never been matched do you?
According to the Daily Mail, the WH so hurriedly released their hissy-fit statement they misspelled Adegbile's name...
The vote, Obama said in that statement, was 'a travesty based on wildly unfair character attacks against a good and qualified public servant.''As a lawyer, Mr. Adgebile [sic] has played by the rules,' Obama insisted. 'And now, Washington politics have used the rules against him. The fact that his nomination was defeated solely based on his legal representation of a defendant runs contrary to a fundamental principle of our system of justice.'
...before sending out a corrected statement.
How pathetic that we have to rely on overseas media for accuracy...
Chesa Boudin ring a bell?
Surprised o hasn’t appointed him to something. Or would that wave a red flag?
Did he chew the carpet loose from the Oval Office again?
