>>Whole chapters are required to get the real meaning.<<

Actually it’s the entirety of scripture that gives the real meaning. That would include the New Testament which God chose to preserve in the Greek language for all generations as He promised. He didn’t lose control for 2000 years while His word was lost.

Great find! Thank you for posting that.

Earliest New Testament Fragments in GREEK!

Scholars have long denied the veracity of the New Testament Scriptures, claiming that the earliest gospels were not eye-witness accounts of Christ and His life, but were written some one hundred years afterward, or about the middle of the second century, and were based on hearsay, myth, fable, and oral stories which had been passed down. Thus many scholars have regarded the very words of Christ, as recorded in the gospels, as "suspect."

Astonishing as it may seem, however, bits of papyrus in an Oxford University library puts the lie to the cherished theories of unbelieving, skeptical scholars! Three scraps of text of the gospel of Matthew, inscribed in Greek, have traditionally been believed to have been written in the late second century. But German papyrus expert Carsten Thiede has published a paper arguing that these fragments kept at Oxford's Magdalen College very likely represent an actual EYE WITNESS ACCOUNT of the life of Jesus!

The Magdalen fragments have been at the Oxford college since 1901. Little work has been done on them since 1953 when they were last edited by biblical scholars. But earlier this year, Thiede visited Oxford and inspected the papyrus. He concluded,

"The Magdalen fragment now appears to belong to a style of handwriting that was current in the 1st Century A.D., and that slowly petered out around the mid-1st Century. Even a hesitant approach to questions of dating would therefore seem to justify a date in the 1st Century, about 100 years earlier than previously thought."

The lines on the fragments are from Matthew 26 and include the oldest written reference to Mary Magdalene and the betrayal of Christ by Judas. This fragment, written soon after the death of Christ, in the first century, is written in the Greek language, putting in the trash compacter once and for all the notion that the apostles did not speak or write Greek!

This new discovery by Professor Carsten Thiede, a papyrus expert, will provoke controversy among scholars, if not even dismay and consternation on the part of disbelievers and skeptics. His discovery is strong evidence that the gospel accounts regarding the life of Jesus Christ are accurate, and reliable historical documents.

The Magdalene fragment from the Gospel of Matthew has been identified as coming from a document dated to the middle of the first century A.D. -- during the very lives of the apostles! This fragment is written in GREEK, and could even be a fragment from an original monograph written by the apostle Matthew himself! This amazing new discovery is powerful evidence, obviously, that the writer, evidently the apostle Matthew, was very familiar with the Greek language and was capable of writing intelligently in it.

If the Hebrew Roots people tempt you into doubting the voracity of the New Testament as we have it in the Greek documents today I would suggest reading the information here.

So no actual proof from you, just a big claim.

Good links. Instead of the false claim that Jews did not speak Greek, we see evidence that Greek was used by Jews.

We are witnessing what happens when people believe the words of a false teacher. They swallow it hook, line and sinker.

Their “defense here is just ad hominem arguments and bluster.

I prayed last night for clarification on the subject of the language used for the New Testament. Those who would cast doubt on the veracity of the Greek text we have available today can lead people away from the truth. God used boatbums to answer my prayer.

Which version of the Bible in English is without errors?
I don’t read Hebrew or greek. For that matter, who is the best teacher to learn from?

There is no "best" teacher. Read as many as you can and compare them to each other, and (mainly) to Scripture. As long as they and Scripture (all of Scripture) agree, then they are probably correct on the point you are comparing.

That is what I have been up to as I doubt anyone has everything write.
My concern is all the translations prove that there are errors here and there. My King James may be very close but it seems some details are not as clear or precise as they should be.

Translations may not be perfect, but I would be *very* nervous about anyone claiming that the New Testament was written in Hebrew.

It wasn't, and we have original manuscripts proving that.

Also, anyone claiming that grace and faith are not sufficient for salvation needs to be educated or shunned for the heresy. Jesus gave His life that He may be our priest. Rejection of that is rejection of God.

>> Which version of the Bible in English is without errors?<<

I find that the KJV is the most reliable. If I have any questions or want a clear transliteration from the Greek or Hebrew there are sites online that can be checked. I use this one. You can see the direct transliteration of any verse or use the parallel function to see many different versions of scripture.

>>For that matter, who is the best teacher to learn from?<<

As far as human teachers that’s a tuff one. I have never found any one teacher to be all sufficient. I have listened to many over my 65 years. The first and foremost requirement for me is do they stay strictly with scripture or do they veer off into “denominational” interpretations or statements of belief? The bottom line requirement for me is how far they stray from the simple answer Paul gave the jailor when he asked “what must I do to be saved”? Paul’s answer was “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved – and your house”. If we truly do that and let nothing shake that foundation we have been promised to be given the ultimate “counselor” in trying to understand and that is the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

That same Spirit was promised to us.

Acts 15:8 And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the holy Spirit just as he did us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts.

Whenever there is a question in my mind on someone’s teachings I get down on my knees and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit. Never have I been let down. I start from the premise “let God be found true, though every man be found a liar”. I chose my “handle” on here for a reason.

If you truly desire truth and sincerely turn to God in submission to His guidance putting all teaching by man secondary you will find it.

I agree. I am almost positive Rood never said the NT was written in Hebrew, just that a copy of Marks? gospel was found somewhere that was written in Hebrew.

thank you for your help

Those such as yourself, that have no knowledge of the Bible, can’t understand the responses of those that do know the word, and must utter grumbling denials with nothing of value.

>>I am almost positive Rood never said the NT was written in Hebrew<<

LOL You may want to investigate the posting history of his followers on these threads before you make any definitive statement like that. Part of the bottom line basis for their teaching comes from the belief that the Greek text we have is a corrupted translation and that the original was in Hebrew. The people in the Hebrew roots movement are convinced of which Rood is a proponent.

Nice post CB. I agree and I am confident that I have the important issues settled rightly in my mind. I am also confident that learned minds study all their lives and hardly scratch the surface or how awesome Gods word is.
Even like minded people disagree on certain issues after decades of studies.

Ones thing is for sure. The final chapter of the Age of Grace is about to end.

No doubt about that. We are seeing prophecy unfold before our eyes. It’s time to look up for our redemption draweth nigh.

>> “Except for the complicating fact that when we are saved...” <<

.
The word clearly states that our salvation will occur “at the last trump.”

If you examine each of the verses that you posted, you will see that you do not meet the standard of belief contained therein.

Belief, by the standard of God’s word, is total, and has no avenue of picking and choosing that you so enjoy on this forum.

Please study the complete chapters from which you surgically extracted those quotes!
