Welcome to Salinas, California. It’s a community of only 150,000 people and the owner of the military assault death machine.
That’s right, a city of less than a quarter million owns a rolling death machine complete with a machine gun turret on top. What the h-ll would they need that for?

The Salinas Police Department made its new armored rescue vehicle available for public viewing on Tuesday in front of City Hall. Police said the ARV, acquired and customized at very low cost to the city, will provide protection and rescue capabilities to officers and civilians in high-risk situations. (The Californian)
The vehicle was obtained through the US government’s 1033 program established as a means of reallocating government equipment for use by law enforcement.
Hmmmmmm, the Air Force is trying to eliminate the A-10 from inventory.

Any heavy industrial tractor or truck could easily take that out...simply ram it, box it in...molotov it after. Its just a metal death box if things ever really SHTF. I’d not want to be a LEO sitting in there.

Slowly, well maybe bot so slowly now, The Armed Forces are being replaced by “law enforcement agencies”. Those in turned, are being manned by degenerates with no morals, low character, and no principles, only a joy to kill and maim. And when the order is given to round up and slaughter the sheep, they will eagerly carry it out.
After watching some of the videos from the Ukraine, it occurs to me that simple gasoline and bottles work wonders. If you coat the outside of that vehicle with burning fuel, the air intakes will fill with smoke and fire, and the metal will get hot as an oven. The piggies inside would have no choice but to evac or be cooked/smoked to death.

The police in the United States have been steadily militarized over the past decade to the point of absurdity, as recently exemplified by police rolling out an armored personnel carrier (APC) to the Occupy Tampa protests.
Benjamin Carlson of The Daily covered one of the more unsettling recent developments in this militarization of police, the Department of Defense’s obscure “1033 program” which has given away almost $500 million in leftover military equipment to law enforcement in the fiscal year of 2011.
This year’s total is more than double the amount of equipment handed out in 2010, which was $212 million worth of military gear, setting a new record for the program.
Included in this distribution of military equipment are: armored vehicles, like the one seen at Occupy Tampa and in towns and cities across the nation, along with M-16 assault rifles, grenade launchers, helicopters and even military robots.
Yet the 1033 program looks like it is getting even worse, with orders for the fiscal year 2012 being up 400% over the same period in 2011 according to data provided by the Pentagon’s Defense Logistics Agency to The Daily.
If it keeps at this pace, that would mean $2 billion in equipment for American police departments in the fiscal year 2012.
The 1033 program was passed by Congress in 1997, which I found quite interesting as most of these programs have been pushed in the wake of September 11th, 2001, under the pretext of fighting the so-called “war on terror.”
However, even then, their justification was that it would be used to fight drugs and terrorism and since it began, over 17,000 law enforcement agencies have accepted $2.6 billion in military equipment, only having to pay for the cost of delivering the gear.

It will be up for auction in a few years. Maybe a farmer or rancher could think of an application for it. Or something for the monster truck circuit.

A friend and I were talking over lunch a few weeks ago. He started talking about the growing militarization of police forces and sheriffs offices all across the US.
The weaponry and armoured vehicles aside, he said the biggest problem will be the individuals using those weapons and vehicles. He said that many have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. over there, they were taught to handle civilians as if they were potential terrorists or criminals.
A large number have come back and have got positions in law enforcement - but they still see many of us (even if were doing nothing wrong) as potential terrorists and criminals. They don’t look at us as people to protect FROM the terrorists and criminals. Accordingly, you see an increase in aggressive, shoot first-maybe we’ll ask questions later actions by these officers and deputies.
Officers shooting cats and non-hostile dogs, people being beaten and rousted during routine traffic stops for even the slightest sign of non-cooperation, no-knock raids in which property is destroyed, etc - and all the while, the police get off scot-free as Internal Affairs investigations will always vindicate the officer as being “threatened”, thus leading to his/her actions.
I just had so much fun! I called the mayor’s office in Salinas. Talked to a very nice lady who was very gracious answering questions. LOL I asked her who the police plan to use the machine gun on. I asked, “are the police really paranoid or do they think there’s going to be an invasion? If no invasion, are they going to use it on citizens, on people going through red lights or on jay walkers?” She offered to connect me to the police department. LOL She had a good attitude.
