one of the individuals hes photographed with might turn out to be an interesting connection.
Is the photo in question at the link or in one of the other Subud groups that can be seen on the right?

Where have we heard Pak’s name before ;-)
:-)
Just trying to tell you your obsession with looking for Subud symbols had nothing to do with the ring zero has worn since at least the early eighties. Funny thing is, we have numerous reports now from Kenyan websites and newspapers which say he was there in 1983, but he was wearing that ring before 1983, so he didn't buy it in Africa. Looks like it was some kind of gift. It certainly isn't a wedding ring. There might just be a connection in that chronological discrepancy with that 'missing year' in his record, but that record is so thin it needs a lot more investigation.
Have a good day ! Oh and thanks for the contributions that got us started and kept us going.
You can thank Brown Deer for that, he posted the original material on this thread about Alice, and it was he who found the letter from Subud in which she was named as Deliana; up until then, I had never heard of the wily sufi-muslim Subud, and neither had anyone else on FR.
After I was alerted by Brown Deer, I posted an image of the man and three comments down, someone wrote 'he looks like zero' (loosely paraphrased) after which Corsi put the whole thing on his facebook page and the bull got out of the gate - and another urban legend was born, suddenly we had three potential fathers and I posted comparison images with the comment 'take your pick'.
I am having a nice day, thanks.
No use pointing anyone out until we can get an id.
I think we need to reinvent a TV series
I LIVED TWO LIVES
Or we could do a remake of the fifties name game song !

Just wondering if it was in one of the groups photos off on the right or not. But no need to clarify any more, I can take looks.
Those two photos that LivingNet posted above look very similar. Same type of nose, long upper lip, brow shape/ridge looks very similiar. Thick bushy hair on both. If these obvious observations are of any use.

Some of those interviewed, like Ibu Rahayu, Hussein Rofé, Patricia Lacey, Varindra Vittachi, Sharif Horthy and others, had lived near Bapak and were involved in the emergence and spread of the latihan.

“EXPERIENCING THE MIRACULOUS, A gift of grace” tells stories how people from all over the world were drawn to Subud and the kind of experiences some hilarious, others profound and life-changing that they experienced shortly before, during and after their opening.
The book is available from amazon.com at US$14.99 plus shipping and handling charges. All revenue from the sales of this book will be given to Susila Dharma Canada and SICA Australia.

AU REVOIR HARTATI MAY 01, 2008 top of page
Simon Xavier Guerrand-Hermes writes following Hartati Horthy’s funeral, April 24
Hartatis departure on Thursday morning in a charming country church was very moving, While it was raining cats and dogs during all the trip to Itchingfield, like magic when Hartatis beautiful Subud made cask entered the church, the sun light appeared and remained all the time.
Henry and Zenya read some wonderful and moving texts, the singer Pippa Longworth was beautiful, the words from a very young minister very appropriate; but the words of great tenderness of Leonard, representing the five children, were incredibly authentic and full of love, and made me believe that she was prepared and that it was necessary to pray for her in her new life and not to be sad for her.
Henry in front of the grave told us that he would say one of Hartatis favourite prayers and the alfatiya was said by all those knowing it. It created a very beautiful Subud feeling to this special ceremony in total accordance with a religious ceremony.

On another note, Hartati’s Horthy’s funeral will be held on Thursday, April 24, at 11:30, at St. Nicolas Church, Itchingfield (near Horsham), England.

CELEBRATING RAHMANIYAH BOWDEN JAN 12, 2008 top of page
Staff writer
On Monday, January 14th, Rahmaniyah Bowden celebrates her 90th birthday in Hungary.
CONGRATULATIONS RAHMANIYAH!!!
2008 also marks fifty years since Rahmaniyah joined Subud, following in the footsteps of her son Sharif Horthy. Since the early days, Rahmaniyah has always been very active in our association, including many years as an international helper. This was at a time when Bapak was still alive and the IHs’ work was not yet divided into areas, meaning that Rahmaniyah travelled fearlessly all over the globe. Along with her fellows at the time, she instigated the World Latihan every month. Even today she loves to be part of Subud events far and wide. As recently as 2005, she joined the Bi-Zonal African meeting that took place in Kinshasa, République Democratique du Congo, while 2006 saw her dancing merrily at the Zone 4 meeting at Lake Balaton, Hungary, and last summer she was among the early pioneers celebrated at the ThankYou gathering in Ascot, UK (photo).
Since the war forced her to flee her native Hungary, Rahmaniyah has lived in Portugal, where she has been an unflagging mainstay for the groups; at the same time, since the opening up of the former Soviet block, she has been very active supporting the new members in her beloved homeland, with visits, translations and general communications.
A few years ago, Rahmaniyah completed her autobiography, Honour and Duty, which you can read more about by going to the PEOPLE/Books segment of this site.

Today I fly to Kyoto, Japan, to attend - as chairlady of WSA - the World Conference of Religions for Peace. Other Subud participants include Zone 9 Rep., Elisa Sanchez Caballero, Area 1 International Helper, Judy Gibb, Alexandra Asseilly (Garden of Forgiveness in Beirut), Sharif and Tuti Horthy and Simon Guerrand (these last four are participating on behalf of the Guerrand Hermes Foundation for Peace).

Rahmaniyah Bowden
HER STORY
HONOUR AND DUTY
The Memoirs of Countess Ilona Edelsheim Gyulai
HONOUR AND DUTY is the autobiography of Rahmaniyah Bowden (Sharif Horthys mother.) Set against the backdrop of World War II and the invasion of Hungary, Rahmaniyahs early life is an enthralling tale of love, tragedy, abduction, conspiracy, imprisonment and eventual sanctuary. Born Countess Ilona Edelsheim Gyulai, at the age of 21 she marries Stephen Horthy the vice-regent of Hungary. Her husband, an outspoken critic of the Nazis, dies in an extremely suspicious plane crash; and when the Nazis invade Hungary, Ilona, her small son, her father-inlaw the Regent and his wife are arrested and imprisoned in Germany. After the war, Rahmaniyahs life moves between Portugal, England and Iraq. In 1958, through her son, she joins Subud, and later acts as an international helper for ten years.
HONOUR AND DUTY is a fascinating story, not only for the romance and danger of Rahmaniyahs youth, but also for her description of the deep effect Subud has had on her life, her commitment to the latihan and her insights into Christianity and Islam.
When the book came out in Hungary in 2001 it was an immediate best seller, and many young Hungarians joined Subud after reading it.
Corsi is an odd duck. He has a habit of running with egregious mis- or in some cases, dis-information. His judgement is very unsound, or he has other motives; and either one means “don’t trust”.

How unfortunate.
wiki:
Countess Ilona Edelsheim-Gyulai de Marosnémethi et Nádaska (14 January 1918 18 April 2013)[1][2] was a Hungarian noblewoman and wife of István Horthy, son of Regent Miklós Horthy and Deputy Regent of Hungary for a short time in 1942.
She was born in Budapest, the third daughter of Count Lipót Edelsheim-Gyulai and Gabriella Pejacsevich
(snip)
She married István Horthy in April 1940. Their only son, István Horthy, Jr. was born in 1941. Her husband died in an unexplained airplane crash over the Eastern Front in August 1942. In 1954 she married Colonel John Wallace Guy Bowden of the Queen’s Own Hussars; during the early 1960s they lived in Baghdad, where Bowden was a British military attaché, and in the 1980s they moved to Portugal. Bowden died in 2002.
She worked as a nurse for the Red Cross during the Second World War. She also had a role in rescuing Jews. After the unsuccessful desertion attempts and Operation Panzerfaust, she went to emigration, along with her father-in-law, the Regent. She wrote her memoir with the title of Becsület és kötelesség (”Honor and Duty”). She lived in the United Kingdom until her death at Lewes, aged 95.
She was born in 1940. The image on the right in the previous comment is from 1985.
The woman supposedly standing behind MX who was killed in 1965, appears to be in her forties.
