Can someone fill me in on something? I thought that the cooler weather the last 17 years is due to less solar activity and that its predicted to continue for some time. Isn’t this solar activity?

The sun's solar cycle, which is magnetic in nature, has an average period of about 11 years. It is currently approaching the peak of the cycle.

And the “high” cycle that we are in is lower in number of sunspots, and expected to be shorter in time than previous ones. And the previous low cycle was longer in time than predicted.

While the odds of a flare “kill shot” are lower now, it only takes one!

You are just a denier! This is man caused due to our carbon emissions and the only way to stop it is to tax somebody.
