I'm not sure how to post this personal thread but here goes. Our daughter is in the ICU with pneumonia and the doctors say the next 24 hours are crucial to her recovery. She hasn't shown any improvement with the treatment she's received for the past three days. She went in the hospital the day after Christmas, spent her 40th birthday there on Friday and was moved to the ICU today.
So we are praying that the Good Lord will surround her with his blessings and protect her. Her just turned five year old son wasn't allowed to see her after she was moved to the ICU and he had been holding it all together pretty good until today. Please pray for her recovery, the doctors treating her, the nurses attending to her, and for her husband and her son. Her name is Rebecca and we want the Lord to be hearing her name from all corners of the country.
I ask for your prayers for myself also as I have the flu and will need my health back in order to help with our grandson and our daughter when she returns home as her recovery won't be easy.
Thank you.
Surely He shall deliver Rebecca from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. Rebecca shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
Your post is awesome. It made me cry, it was so powerful. I’m praying for Rebecca as you suggested. Thank you!
Glad to hear positive news.
Prayers continuing.
Dear “Thank You Rush”.
I Just came in and turned on FR to your beautiful, wonderful news! Thanks be to the healing power and loving mercy of our Lord!
Turning now back to prayer in thanksgiving, and for the continued improvement of your dear daughter, and for the comfort of your family.
Such hopeful and happy news! And especially now, I hope you are resting yourselves.

Just now seeing this, TYR. I’ve said a prayer for Rebecca’s recovery — and for your own as well. God bless!
That is so beautiful and I thank you so much. I know a lot of care is going into these posts and I appreciate them all so much.
We went to see Rebecca tonight after her husband picked up our grandson. Her coloring was so much better and they hope to move her to Intermediate Care but there are really no rooms available. This stuff has the hospital totally booked like a hotel on New Years Eve. It was encouraging to see her without the horrible dark sunken black eyes and some rosy cheeks. A sight of happy relief. She could speak better and will still have the full face oxygen mask back on for sleeping tonight. I think she’s scared to have oxygen withdrawn from her as she’s pretty breathless without it.
Thank you all again.. These prayers have and will continue to do the trick. Thank you so much.
Everyone stay WELL and SAFE in the New Year and let’s have a 2014 that will show us some REAL HOPE AND CHANGE!! No more fundamental transformation of our country, thank you very much.
Prayers away.
Wonderful news, glory to God!
Has her little guy been able to see her?
Prayers and thanksgiving for Rebecca’s complete healing continue.
I went looking for this thread to see an update. That is great news and we will keep the prayers. My hubby went through double pneumonia it was very serious and when you talked about her sunken dark eyes and no color it reminded me of how he looked. So all your news is a good sign. God Bless!
No, her son hasn’t been in to see her. If she gets moved to Intermediate Care, he will be able to. She said this morning that they still think a room will become available soon for her.
I wonder if she wouldn’t be better off staying in the ICU for a couple more days. I don’t think this morning’s report was as encouraging as yesterday’s. She’s only on 30% oxygen now (which is great news) when it had been turned up about as high as it would go but she’s been taken off her own BP medication as her heart rate is going down. I understand that one medication can cause a problem somewhere else and perhaps all the other meds she’s getting are interfering with that. I simply don’t know.
No change in the morning’s x-ray from yesterday’s...
She said that no one will have to wear a mask entering her room in the ICU now because they figure she’s past the contagious stage of - what? - the flu? I didn’t think they’d determined she had that even tho’ they prescribed Tamiflu as a precaution and I thought the masks were to keep visitors from infecting her with their germs.
I think it might be time for me to go back and find the critical care doctor’s post who offered to answer any questions he could that I might have...Now they seem to be coming....
Thank you all - I’m not forgetting any of you and the concerns you have for complete strangers.
Thank you. I was wondering what double pneumonia meant and had to look it up. The doctor had told us that both of Rebecca’s lungs were involved so he must have meant double pneumonia. He told us twice Friday in the same breath how serious her condition was as tho’ looking at two old folks, they weren’t getting it the first time..
I appreciate so much everyone’s prayers and concerns and wish I hadn’t come down with this crappy flu so I could get a better handle on everything.
Thank you so much.
Thank you. I really do appreciate that. I’ll try to keep updating as we get the changes in Rebecca’s condition.
Hi gal - Wasn’t that an awesome post? I sent it to my niece in upstate NY and she said she’d love to have that person for their Bible studies. Some people are given just the right words while I struggle to make sense even to myself.
Are you off for the week or working?
You know we wish you a very GOOD, HEALTHY AND SAFE NEW YEAR.
TYR, so glad to hear of Rebecca’s improving status!
I know it is sometimes difficult to find a certain freeper’s comments on a thread as long as this one. In case you haven’t found it, the critical care physician who posted his comments to this thread was “gas_dr”. Perhaps he, or she, can shed some light on the questions, which are troubling you.
Continuing to pray for your daughter to be given a nice intermediate room and that your grandson will soon see his rosy-cheeked mommy.
Both my hubby’s lungs were 2/3 full. He was basically healthy otherwise so with enough antibiotics and good care he made it just fine. Get well yourself!
I’ve also used this for YOU: Thank You Rush and Nathaniel shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
I love this. It’s so easy to do. I’m very grateful for oprahstheantichrist’s direction. And am grateful for Rebecca’s healing, for I believe she’s already completely healed, she and we have just got to see it. And so are you!
Taking just a little time off from work this week. Best wishes to you and yours in the New Year.
I’m so grateful you reached out for help. In your quest, you have helped yourself and many others you may never know.
I’ve been scrolling thru these posts and am feeling pretty good about what I’m reading. Feeling some conflict between thinking an extra day or two at ICU after the critical phase passes can be a good thing; the down side is not being able to see her little gy till she’s outta there. So happy for all of you!

Thank you and I absolutely agree with you. Rebecca has been moved out to Intermediate Care now. It was pretty late in the day just before our son in law came to eat and take their son back to see his mom. It’s a good thing he ate earlier as he was so excited that he wouldn’t have settled down to eat after that news. There was a lot of commotion so I couldn’t get his full report on her condition other than he said she was doing much better.
My day will be a normal Wednesday which means grocery shopping and hopefully, will get to the hospital to see Rebecca. I was feeling pretty wiped out last night and turned in early and didn’t post an update on this news. The noise making at midnight did wake me up so I guess I participated in the New Years celebration by osmosis.
I hope everyone had a pleasant, fun, safe New Years Eve and hopefully and prayerfully as a FReeper FRiend said - will get 2013 behind us. It’s been a nightmare with all the bright ideas and legislation coming out of DC. I’ve described it as a year full of Friday the 13th’s = 2013.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE and thank you all!!
I really appreciate that. I know what you mean about spending time looking for a post you know is there but having difficulty finding it. I haven’t even had time to go back and look so that is very helpful.
Thank you and I hope you had a great New Years Eve....and will have a BRIGHT, SAFE, HAPPY, FREE OF STRESS, NEW YEAR!!
Good morning...I didn’t get to do an update on Rebecca last night nor did I see your post. I really like it.
When Nathaniel was picked up about 7, I was fading fast. Rebecca was moved to Intermediate Care pretty late in the day and other than Pat saying she was doing much better, I really don’t know much more than that. Nathaniel was so happy to hear that his dad intended to take him to see her, that there was just too much commotion for me to take in what he was saying.
I got him to eat earlier so that was good as he was too excited to eat after he got the news about his mom. Pat ate and then they left.
Needless to say I hit the hay early and without a book if you can believe that. Mainly because I’m out of library material and was too tired to look for anything on my shelves.
Hope you had a safe New Years Eve and will enjoy a BRIGHT NEW YEAR free of the “stuff” we’ve put up with this year. I hear your weather is pretty darned good in Southern CA. A friend called yesterday to check up on everyone and just happened to mention it - HA! Envy you all.
Thank you.
You, too, Thank You Rush! Happy New Year to you, too! And thank you for your wishes. They mean a lot to me.
