EVERYTHING at Novak’s is just delicious. For lunch or dinner I suggest you try the Combo with Cafe Budapest to drink, and a generous slice of Dobos Torta for dessert. I’d suggest a Dessert Combo, so you can sample several things, but only if you’re dining as a group, or plan to box most of it up and take it home for later.

For those of you at too great a distance, I recommend buying the recipe book they offer for sale:

You are a total sweetie! Thank you very much! I doubt that we’ll get to Oregon anytime soon, so I asked about your favorite dishes so that I could do a search for recipes. Lo and behold, they not only have a “baker’s dozen” of their recipes, but also have authentic Hungarian paprika! (A friend went to Hungary and brought me back a bag of it, and I made many delicious meals with it. The stuff I buy here doesn’t compare favorably to it.) They also say that a cookbook is coming, so is the baker’s dozen like a brochure and then they plan to do something more elaborate? The only Hungarian thing I’ve made are paprikas. I have a recipe for langos which I haven’t tried yet, but I think I’ll wait until I get the recipes. I’ll ask about the cookbook, too, when I call them tomorrow. Tonight, I’ll dream of Dobos tort!
