Dispelling Myths: The Case for Immigration Reform [Enjoy your made-in-America ZOT, troll]
Red Dirt Report ^ | 12/27/2013 | Brian Woodward

Posted on 12/27/2013 11:24:17 AM PST by honestabe010

In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senate’s immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...

Highlights from Article:

- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”

- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.

- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.

- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.

- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.

- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, “The number of jobs in the United States is not static. It’s fluid, which is how we want it to be.”

Uh...you used it all.
It was almost empty.
Unless you had another one?

you used it all.

Don't think I did. What I do remember is that it and the minkoilcovered rag I used to apply the stuff wan in a bag and it kept falling out of the hideyhole I kept it in and getting in my way. And I got tired of picking it up and throwing it back into the hideyhole, so I picked it up...

...and put it away. You know, someplace that I would remember...

but yes, there wasn't much left. But there was enough to significantly modify the wicking of moisture into the boot one last time. And Wally world was out when I was there Sat. pm..

And on another note, Commie News Network has cancelled the Pierced Moran show. In someone's basement somewhere all two of his loyal viewers are deeply saddened and on suicide watch.

Seriously, he's running out of English speaking countries to foist himself off on. If he goes to Australia, there's a cricket bowler that is warming up his cricket equivalent of the good ol' bean ball just for him. Hopefully he will return to Merry Olde England, where Jeremy Clarkson is waiting to bash him in the face a second time..

Monkey Face sings, but only sings limited-range tenor, never solo, and I can’t master all the strings on a guitar.

And I’ve never been paid for it.

You look fine.

Frank wet his bed last night. I got him dry clothes at 4:00 a.m., but didn’t get the bedding until after daylight. *sigh* I hope this is an isolated incident and not a fun new trend. Have to make sure he’s not having drinks all evening from now on.

I forget just why.

For pay?

I’m going to clean up Kathleen’s clothes and then run the vacuum. I need to see what we’ve got left that fits her; 24-month items are too small.

I agree...I hope this is not a new trend for Frank.

I woke up with some really intense back pain, and can’t imagine why. I haven’t done any work (yesterday) that required bending or stooping or any kind of strain. I don’t like take Ibuprofen except at bedtime, but I had to take some this morning.

Anyway, I have to take my pills and then hit the road, neither of which I want to do at the moment. *sigh*

It would be nice to go to work. I miss the paychecks, the challenges and the people and not necessarily in that order.

Forced retirement isn’t much fun.

The only reason I sing at all is because we grew up with music. Music was (believe it or not) a standard class in school, and in high school, it was elective.

I’ve sung in duets and trios, but refuse to sing solo. I’ve also sung in numerous church choirs, and they have always needed me because choirs are notoriously short on tenors!

I’ve also dabbled with musical instruments, such as a violin, a ukulele, and the piano, but never mastered any of it for one reason or another. Anyway, I can’t imagine life without music.

Good luck! I went through Kathleen’s clothes; there’s not much left that fits her. This means I can buy new things!

I’m going to wait for the pills to ease some of the pain before I try to drive. I don’t think using the clutch will be a good thing, just yet!

Good news on the NEW FINGS for the Pink Person! What size is she wearing, these days?
