In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senates immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...
Highlights from Article:
- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.
- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.
- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.
- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.
- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, The number of jobs in the United States is not static. Its fluid, which is how we want it to be.

Must go for a bit,
low battery power.
Er the snow wasn’t me, never touched those controls...honest.
Come to think of it, a movie of this could be made on a pretty low budget.
lol
What is a chemical stress test?
Yes, restful sleep.
Easy listening T-c and everyone I pray for our evening and this day as we make for the Hill. May that Hill be not a Hill too far ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltAsqsSlVac
Elen is watching “Top Gear.” I hope you reach the Hill safely.
Said it before GeronL, I pray, but truly I believe He is Patriot Pastor. Time will, of course, tell. He appears to want to lead.
Does look why the media is afraid of him and want to discredit him. He looks to be a No Compromise type of guy. I’ll wait till the call is made. This Pastor has my attention.
Since I have too many health problems (like arthritis and CFIDS) I can’t be placed on a treadmill. So the alternative is to give me something (not sure what, but it will mimic physical activity) under supervised conditions while monitoring my heart with sonar, EKG, etc. I’ve had it done and I don’t like it. It will take most of the morning.
Fear Not! Been There and Done It! Once upon a time, I too could not face a treadmill. Now I can!!! Have Faith, my {{Hugs}}. Treadmill is not necessary and has no bearing. You will do Fine!!!
It sounds dreadful.
I’ve done it before, the same test, but what disturbs me is that I can’t take any pain meds so it will be a LONG morning until I get done with the test and get home.
The test itself isn’t scary. It’s just a waste of time. I have an inspection here on Wednesday, and I’ve been so anemic for so long that nothing is done. And my aide quit. *sigh* I could use the time for shampooing the carpet and cleaning the patio...
And, of course, I now have a migraine, so I’m taking it and my silly self to bed. I’ll see y’all tomorrow! Even for just a while...
I didn’t like the first one, and I doubt I will like this one. As I said, it’s a waste of my time.
There is so much that has to be done, here... *sigh*
Kathleen just took Tom by his giant hand and is dragging him away, mumbling something through the blanket in her mouth.
And the blood test I had this morning took four vials. My arm bled quite a bit, and when I took the tape off, my arm bled from the tape. Now I have cold chills which tells me I most likely will need another transfusion...I’m going to bed and try to warm up.
Maybe my headache will go away, but it feels like it’s going to be one of Those Migraines that get all the bad press...
Later...
I wish Kathleen could drag me away...
You are never a waste of time ... Sleep Well Face!
They came back. Now she’s sitting in her chair, occasionally removing the blanket from her mouth to yell, “No, Mama!” I’m not sure what I’ve done wrong.
I might actually need to attempt reactivation of the green 'n yellow Deere (which has quietly hibernated in the shed since the last significant redistribution of Algore Breath..) if it really reaches that six inch mark..
