Dispelling Myths: The Case for Immigration Reform [Enjoy your made-in-America ZOT, troll]
Red Dirt Report ^ | 12/27/2013 | Brian Woodward

Posted on 12/27/2013 11:24:17 AM PST by honestabe010

In his press conference on December 20th, President Obama urged the House of Representatives to support the Senate’s immigration bill, which passed 68-32 in late June. Among the concerns cited by Americans who oppose reform are that immigrants will take their jobs, drive down wages, increase criminal activity, burden the welfare system, and reshape the cultural dynamic of the country. These concerns are mostly ill-founded. The legitimate concerns have real solutions, and a more open immigration policy will be a net benefit for all Americans...

Highlights from Article:

- A 2013 study by the American Action Forum states that "immigration reform can raise population growth, labor force growth, and thus growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).”

- In 2013 the Bipartisan Policy Center came to similar conclusions. It makes the prediction that current provisions, as included in the Senate Bill, would raise GDP 4.8 percent over twenty years.

- According to the Immigration Policy Center, immigrant males between the ages of 18 and 39 (which constitute the greatest portion of the prison population) are five times less likely to be incarcerated than are natives.

- A 2011 survey by the Pew Research Center revealed that 92 percent of second generation and 96 percent of third generation Hispanics speak English proficiently.

- A 2010 Gallup poll revealed that Hispanics attend church services more often than non-Hispanic whites.

- Since an influx of immigrants means an expansion of the labor supply, many assert that the result will be less jobs and lower wages. However, as asserted by Jason Riley, a member of the Wall Street Journal editorial board, “The number of jobs in the United States is not static. It’s fluid, which is how we want it to be.”

It’s 61 degrees here, and the skies are blue and calm. I LIKE it!

I’m hungry, but the meat hasn’t completely thawed, yet, so I may just wing it. I tried making some mac’n’cheese, but it didn’t taste very good, so I threw it all out. Maybe the blood I got was from an android...??? All metallicky and stuff...

It’s weird, for sure. I noticed it last night when I was working on the second bag...I ate some Ritz and Peanut butter crackers and they tasted like I think aluminum would taste. Even the coffee this morning was slightly metallic, but I figured as soon as my body began to replace that blood with its own, the sensation would go away.

I’ll see what tomorrow is like.

I called early enough this morning that I was able to reschedule the chemical stress test for a week from tomorrow, so I will get that out of the way, then try to get the Echo test scheduled.

I stopped at the lab this morning on the way home and will check the results in a few hours. I’m so happy they put things online for me to access.

Iron, not aluminum! LOL! Iron I get by cooking my meats in the cast iron skillets. Something I’ve always done, since I first got married, a million years ago.

It adds a little iron each time, but that’s not the reason I use the cast iron...I just like the way food crisps up in in the stuff...

Me either. I wouldn’t have had this one, had I known how to replace the blood I lost to the ulcer any other way. I know how to stop the bleeding almost immediately, but replacing what I lost is the hard part. And that’s because by the time I realize the ulcer is active, I’ve already lost a lot of blood.

So I need to make some changes in my life, and I need to do them now. As in last month.

"His ‘manhood’ is in the snow when he pees."

On behalf of the men of the UT, we like to think that isn't completely dependent on the depth of the snow.

Note to self; one does not set italics mode by using two ‘i’s in the brackets.

“Yeah, and it’s deep, too.”

So, now that you’ve been topped off with red blood cells, are you ready to tackle Mount Everest? That’s one of the requirements, you know, being able to breathe.

I’m still having a little trouble with the breathing aspect of life, but I was reassured that it “would all come back to” me.

Last week, it took me 30 minutes to walk to the mailbox which is 25 yards away, but in order to get back home, I had to take a little nap...home is uphill...
