There are a couple hurdles to secession. Lots of Federal infrastructure in Texas that the other 49 states contributed to. Going to give that back or pay the other 49 states back? Texas is not going to just up and leave the union with out ponying up quite a bit of money or getting their asses kicked in the process during repossession.
Hey, don't get me wrong, if Texas goes the route of seceding, I want to know where I can donate my wealth during said process to the cause while I get my affairs in order to move there. I'm up for a fight from "that" side of the new border.

Lots of Federal infrastructure in Texas that the other 49 states contributed to. And vice versa. Where's our slice of the Virgin Islands?

Lots of Federal infrastructure in Texas that the other 49 states contributed to. Like what? A few military bases and the Johnson Space Administration?
All of it's on Texas land. If the blue states want to be reimbursed for the building costs, we'll likely remind them that we get back less than a dollar for every dollar we pay in federal taxes.
If we go, everything that's stamped "U.S." will be impounded by an act of the Texas legislature.

Wrong...more money pours out of Texas than goes into it.
