I am convinced these “professors” are seriously mentally ill. Or maybe he didn’t get enough attention from daddy when he was growing up.
Tenure. For the absolutely rigorous and knowledge-seeking scholar it allows variance, specialization and the chance for world-class improvement of that knowledge.
For the simple minded intellectual sloths who get by on politics, ideology and rote-dogma, it is an incubator for moldy and diseased thought. Eventually it mutates into a deadly disease. This individual hid the worst of his disease until he was truly impervious to outside judgment.
Here’s hoping his retirement is very short.
