I don't think the phrase "it sucks" is a sexual reference. At least, it never used to be. I suppose in our hyper-sexualized society these days its seamlessly taken on sexual meaning.

In fact I just googled it, and it appears the term "sucks" originated in the 1950's in the jazz music scene. If you were lousy at playing your saxophone or horn what have you, it was said that you must be sucking on it, instead of blowing into it.

You are correct, I was using "it sucks" as a general pejorative.
