THIS HOPEFUL MESSAGE IS FROM TREBB (good news):
Please pass this on for those who need a message of hope.
Our son, Daniel, was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer last October.
The doctor told him that he had up to 6 months without treatment and perhaps between 6 months and two years with treatment - he stated he had never seen anyone with masses the size and position that Dan had (8cm mass in lower lobe of left lung and similar at top of lung and into chest cavity - wrapped around the vena cava and aorta so it was inoperable and also into the lymph nodes) live beyond 2 years.
Since I first became part of the cancer warriors ping list and let folks know what was going on with us, he went through bouts of chemo and about 40 sessions of radiation. He was told to relax and try to gain some weight for about a month before they took another cat scan and MRI.
He was scanned last Thursday and we got the results today.
The doctor was impressed as there was no sign of the cancer in the scans. He said that with small cell, they cannot be sure they got it all, but it looked very good for now. Even though the lymph nodes had been involved, there was also no sign that it had spread to his brain which was another concern.
Next appointment is in 3 months for more scans. If they look good, he will be on a 3 month cycle to keep tabs on his condition.
There are no guarantees, but God and medical science have worked wonders and given him and us a ray of hope for some more good years with him around.
I appreciate all the prayers and the few posts telling me of possible alternative treatments. My prayers will continue to be with all those on the ping list.
I wish to remain part of the ping list in case I get ant other news and if I might be able to be a comfort to others.
God Bless.
