“Maybe he didnt. Maybe he simply didnt care.”
Ding ding ding! I think we have a winner. I simply do not believe the administration, as clueless as it has been on so many issues, did not know this was coming.
And, I still wonder if - at the risk of sounding like a tinfoil hat type - the ultimate goal is to push through single payer. The argument being private insurers are not up to meeting the needs of the American people, so government needs to ensure “fairness” in coverage. I think that would be a very tough sell right now, but if the Democrats took back the House in 2014, I have very little doubt that Obama would resurrect the public option and try to ram it through with Pelosi and Reid’s help.
I honestly believe that many in this administration see that as ‘the greater good’, and see the turmoil people are experiencing in losing their individual coverage and/or higher rates as a necessary component to getting a single payer system in place.
These are interesting times we live in...
Beltway pundits KNOW this has been the socialist dream.
To feign ignorance of Obama’s motives and analyzing his involvement out of the equation is infuriating and insulting.
The Beltway crowd is afraid of Obama and Co. They’re protecting themselves and their positions of access (professional and personal).
If the midterm election were being held tomorrow the dems would have absolutely no chance to win back the house. None. In fact if the GOP can run some decent conservatives who will fight, they may even take the Senate in 2014. Not only making Obama a lame duck but also a dead duck politically. He will have a lot to answer for if he ever loses his hold on the Senate.
We’ll see what happens next year and we’ll see if the GOP can once again run a bunch of RINO losers and blow it again.

You're not crazy. Single payer has been the intent all along. Already, it's being discussed as the solution to the Obamacare woes. And the same suckers who fell for the promises of Obamacare are falling for this scheme too.
And why is that so important? It is so important because it would allow 100% of all medical dollars to pass through and be managed by the Federal government, and they will take their increasing percentage of these costs out of the pool of medical dollars available.
They will "age" invoices; incompetent clerks will question payments to doctors and other service providers; countless hours will be spent by the consumer, doctors' office staff, and service providers' staff changing coding numbers on bills so they can get paid; doctors will be charged with fraud for mis-charging to the wrong code because a code does not exist for the service provided. And all the while, the government leaches will continue to inflate the cost of care, care will be rationed, delayed, and not even provided unless the ill and needy meet certain "guidelines".
The horrors of people dying before being able to get to their scheduled appointment with their cardiologist or hematologist will increase, especially for the elderly retired folks, those who have worked and contributed to their retirements, IRAs, 401-K plans, and social security plans all their lives, just so that the younger, middle class folks on welfare, and the undocumented can get free medical care.
And this next civil war will be the first that is fought by the elderly instead of the young, because they will be the ones who remember the way it used to be, and the ones who will have their hearts in the fight.
