A Pennsylvania woman set out with a video camera to learn what college students in her state know about the Holocaust and discovered an incredible lack of knowledge not only of the genocide of the Jews, but of basic facts about U.S. history and World War II.
Rhonda Fink-Whitman visited college campuses in Pennsylvania this fall, including the venerated Ivy League institution the University of Pennsylvania, where she was repeatedly faced with a remarkable ignorance about events that took place in the last century.
Students didnt know where Normandy was, why U.S. forces landed there, why the U.S. even entered the war or who was president at the time. (Wilson, Eisenhower and JFK were among the guesses.) One student didnt know who Anne Frank was, because he said he never read the book.

There are pages in textbook dedicated to slavery, opression of American Indians and black radicals. They teach that the founding fathers were all just old white guys who just loved money.
No surprise that they would gloss over the killings by a Socialist regime, just they never teach about the mass killings by Stalin, Mao and pol pot.
I went down to the sideline, and one of the coaches told me they were sitting him for a few plays as it was a helmet to helmet hit.
To make sure he was ok, I asked him 3 questions:
What happened on June 6, 1944? D-Day...check
What happened on March 6, 1836? Battle of the Alamo...check
What happened on Nov 22, 1963? I had to give him a hint, because we haven't spoken that much about JFK's assassination. I told him I was in 4th grade...click.
I told the coaches he was good to go. His teammates had a look of awe...I guess their dads aren't history buffs.
As to the Holocaust, I got all the teaching I needed from two trips each to Dachau and Flossenburg concentration camps. I could literally feel the evil that remains at these two sites.
post-modernism—the only reality is within the mind of the individual, nothing else exists except what they perceive. Purely Satanic.
Amazing.
I was expected ignorance, but not this level.
When I was in school we learned about the camps and war but I’ve really only studied the thinking and social manipulation that led to it in the last few years.
I like to challenge the left to put the Occupy Wall Street manifesto next to the nazi party planks and compare. Its rather chilling how similar they are.
UGH. To think, they are allowed to vote.
This is all part of the plan. You can’t inoculate kids against tyranny if they have no understanding of what’s gone on in the world over the last few thousand years.
In my readings about the founding fathers I am amazed of their grasp of history. That’s one of the things that brought them to greatness. We are so dumbed down, and anything can be done with the young people because of this.
My son’s school history book on the pilgrims began with a chapter on how women had no rights. True story.
I blame the parents
my kids know the answers to these questions
The”<LEFT”has SUCCEEDED!We now have a generation that has been “Educated”from”Day Care”through University with NOTHING more than PROPOGANDA!!They will ALL be”Dependable”voters for “The Leftist Agenda”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why are those kids in college? Is Penn State just adult daycare now?
Of they couldn't answer these questions. There are only so many hours in the classroom and in the day, and when you have to learn how homos, lezbos, and transgendereds have contributed to history, some other events and facts have to suffer. Theye probably think the Soviet Union was a benign state too!
Todays students should be sent to the camps to live the experience.
Sending your kids to public school is akin to child abuse!
All that said, a lot of the details this lady cares about aren't really that important, not with information so easily google-able. And there weren't that many really big dopes in the video. And most of the real dumdums were Penn State Abington or Temple kids. It's worth noting that there's a huge spectrum of intelligence and education at those institutions. We could be looking at kids who came from inner city public schools with 400's on each section of their SAT's but with 4.0 averages in high school. In all likelihood they're a reflection of a truly horrible education, not an otherwise good education which has this one gaping hole.
If you spend time speaking with young adults I think you'll find more evidence for the rule than the exception.
There was an excellent series on WWII produced in the early seventies by the BBC, I think. The opening had this doleful music with heartbreaking pictures of refugees and shell shocked kids during the blitz. I got most of my WWII history from that series. It’s been colorized and rerun recently.
