Students didn’t know where Normandy was, why U.S. forces landed there, why the U.S. even entered the war or who was president at the time.

Of they couldn't answer these questions. There are only so many hours in the classroom and in the day, and when you have to learn how homos, lezbos, and transgendereds have contributed to history, some other events and facts have to suffer. Theye probably think the Soviet Union was a benign state too!
