Yes, I remember the Waxy call sign. At one time, I was the assistant Tower chief at Travis, from 84 to 87. We called them service eval, and when they were coming, we all gathered around to try to answer the questions they asked. They simulated NORDO, simulated squawking 7500 and 7700. They always put us through the ringer. We didn't like seeing them.

Whenever Waxy came by for an operational evaluation and asked all those obscure ATC questions we would put a smart 3-level in position. It would be a great boost for their confidence, plus they were the only ones who knew the answer to the damn questions.
