There was a fake fireplace (the realtor called it a “Swedish fireplace) in the master bedroom of the townhome we
bought in Torrance, CA, during the early ‘80s. It was nice on cold nights to be able to flip the switch and not have
to heat the whole house.
We and our two cats used to get nice and comfy sleep on those chilly winter nights.
When they weren’t catching bugs and dropping them still alive on our faces.
Cute little dickinses, the kitties were! They shared their noms!
I never could figure out how they could carry a live bug up two flights of stairs from the garage without killing it.

I draw blood from MANY cats every day, and in only VERY few cases have ever shaved them. I prefer the jugular vein for larger samples for several reasons 1) you can get the full sample in one poke not multiple small pokes 2) the jugular vein does not clot as easy as smaller veins (cannot have a clotted sample for CBCs and other types of labwork) 3) it's MUCH faster and since kitties generally hate the restraint more than the actual poke it is better for them. For smaller samples such as just PCV/TS, glucose only, or FeLV/FIV tests, I usually draw from a back leg but that depends on the cat. Some prefer to sit up and some prefer to lay on their sides. The jugular vein is the EASIEST draw in a cat, IMHO, which is why I always go for it. |
He’s his usual self. He stands next to my chair and moans at me.
I have to figure out what he wants.
If I pick him up and he settles in on my shoulder, he wanted a warm perch.
If he jumps down, I give him a small amount of treats like butter, cheese, or commercial cat treats.
If it has been a while since I fed the cats, I’ll open another can for him.
Then I have to bribe the girls with a small amount of food in each of their bowls so that they leave Luke alone to eat in peace.
His alimentary canal seems much better, and he has not lost his lunch since I switched back to Fancy Feast Classic canned food.
Ah, I am so happy for you and Lucas! I read about Classic Fancy Feast a long time ago (relatively) when I lurked, so that’s what our little guys get, too. As soon as I get out of bed in the morning. The yowling starts. Then Crowbar assumes his feline persona and softly “Woof”’s in his indoors voice. The cats get the Fancy Feast and he gets the cans. Then, I’m allowed to conduct my morning ablutions. I get pushed around a lot here lol!
I’m glad to hear he’s doing better!
I’ve just finished sewing Pat’s extremely important merit badges on his brand-new merit badge sash. Now I’m going to endure an Elen Driving Event. We’re going to the new Goodwill store.
Do you think that maybe the issue mystifies him and he’s trying to save face? (No pun intended.) Or maybe drugs?
Gorgeous!!!!
Isn’t it? Look at the ears.
Well, that’s a relief! Thank you for the resources. Will follow up on them later. Just taking a break now after outdoor chores and before indoor chores. (The old grey mare....)
Awwww....me wants some of dat...what a cute face!
See post #3315
That is such good news about Lucas, and also, the information about the not shaving the jugular was good, as well.
I suspect you will continue to see improvement in him for a few weeks, anyway. It breaks my heart because they can’t tell you what’s wrong and what hurts. *sigh*
You need telepathy for that.
Sorta like a feline fruit bat only beautiful. (To be fair, certainly some fruit bats are beautiful to other fruit bats but not all fruit bats are that superficial. Maybe.)
Sorry I’m late. Starting to pray immediately.
Nope. He’s too old to be mystified and has a history of racing, restoring and customizing vehicles, so if he can’t find the problem, it’s because there is a poltergeist in the machine.
Drugs? Absolutely not. Beer? Yes. Other drugs, no.
I suspect he is busy with restoration projects that pay good money and that he took my piddly little repair job as a favor to work on in his spare time. He was as nice and personable as he has ever been. Just busy.
And I shouldn’t have been such a beach about it.
Now, I can go to the thrift stores! Wait. I just spent a lotta money on Mr. Bill... *sigh*
I DO need to get wiper blades ASAP, though. Tomorrow, early, I will head for Walmart and see what they have.
That’s good news. I hate to hear of a previously-solid citizen going down the tubes. Sorry it’s taking so long, though.
Mr. Bill is back on the road, and running just fine. I will check with Jesse and see if he thinks it’s safe enough to make a drive to AZ, since there are no less than seven families/individuals I need to visit! Oh. Make that eight...
Most live in the Valley of the Sun, but two live in Tucson, and one is between Puget Sound and the White Mountains! LOL!
Well, if nothing else, I’ve learned another lesson in patience and listening to input from well-meaning but out-in-left-field acquaintances. Thanks to CFIDS, I now find myself being easily “led” by people who would handle the situation their own way.
I need to remember to handle it MY way. :o]
