I was up there last month, and was SHOCKED what good shape the highways are in. As lame as many things are in Illinois, the roads are pretty darn good, at least compared to Detroit and Cleveland....

I drove there to visit the grandkids in Algonquin. But we just drive through on the freeway. We avoid Chicago (and the toll roads) like the plague. In fact, we fill up with gas before we enter Illinois (We come up from Kentucky) and fill up again after we leave the state. We leave as few dollars there as we possibly can.
