Minutes after the verdict Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the NAACP and the left-wing politicians were saying what an injustice the verdict was and urging the Department of Justice to prosecute Zimmerman for a “hate crime.” They also were upset with the outcome of the Rodney King case and their rhetoric helped spark the violence that followed.
Where were all these protesters when eight black men gang-raped a white girl and beat her boyfriend senseless? Where were they after the O.J. Simpson trial? Could these be considered “hate crimes”? Apparently not, because the victims were white. I don’t condone criminal actions of any type by anyone. But I believe we should all be treated equally under the law. We shouldn’t subject one race to double jeopardy, which is unconstitutional, because we disagree with the outcome of their trial.
Zimmerman was tried and found not guilty by a jury of his peers. That should be the end of it. Yes, my leftist friends, racism is rampant in America. We only disagree on which race is the victim.
