Jacksonville FL - State Attorney Angela Corey fired her offices information technology director Friday after he testified last month about being concerned prosecutors did not turn over information to George Zimmermans defense team in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
On the same day attorneys finished their closing arguments in that nationally watched trial, a state attorney investigator went to Ben Kruidbos home about 7:30 a.m. to hand-deliver a letter stating Kruidbos can never again be trusted to step foot in this office.
The letter contended Kruibos did a poor job overseeing the information technology department, violated public records law for retaining documents, and noted he was questioned in March when the office was trying to determine who had leaked personnel information obtained through a computer breach.
In an interview Friday, Kruidbos denied the allegations in the letter, which was written by Cheryl Peek, the managing director of the State Attorneys Office.
He said he had acted in good faith about genuine concerns. He said he had been proud to work at the State Attorneys Office and feared the letter would cripple his chances at finding another job to support his family, including a 4-month-old son.
I dont have any regrets, he said, but I am terrified about the future and what that will end up being.
His attorney Wesley White who resigned from the State Attorneys Office in December and is a critic of Corey said the firing was aimed at sending a message to office employees that if they feel like there is wrongdoing, they should not disclose it or seek legal guidance from a private attorney.
If they do speak to an attorney, then they are dead, he said. The State Attorneys Office will do whatever is necessary to not only terminate them, but destroy their reputations in the process.
State Attorney spokeswoman Jackelyn Barnard did not return phone calls or emails for comment.
Kruidbos, 42, had been on paid administrative leave since May 28 from his $80,892 job.

That would be what we non-lawyers call a "crime," would it not?
Honestly, no.
Who??

. Wouldnt you love to see her without makeup?
NO. God couldn’t be that cruel.
You’re right on all counts. Thanks so much, Mouton!
Excellent paraphrasing!!!
Rick Scott and Angela Corey BOTH need to go! They have made their beds with the race-baiters and crooks! This is outrageous!
America is going down folks. There are not enough righteous people to save it, in my opinion. Righteous people do the right things, even under duress. We have too few and too few people standing for the few politicians who are doing the standing up against this tyrannical country. Too many want to just be left alone and go about their own business. Too few are outraged over anything any more, not a good sign. Seems like most don’t want to, or are not willing to take a stand and fight back. We are going to see worse than Nazi Germany right here in America.
The juvenile delinquent who sucker punched George Zimmerman was seventeen, and taller that George Z.The thug who battered Zimmermans head as shown in the photos, and refused to stop when a witness told him to stop, crossed the line into depravity and had no right to restraint on the part of George Zimmerman or anyone else who might have come to succor George Zimmerman. Trayvon Martin entered the law of the jungle of his own volition - and for his pains he took a bullet to the heart and died.
The prosecutor had the nerve to condemn Mr. Zimmerman, still in shock from his ordeal, for not administering mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to Martin. But he did as much for Martins possible survival as the cop who did. He didnt fire the second shot that any trainer of the art of defensive firearm use would have told him to do. Because Zimmerman, in the heat of the event in the darkness, wasnt even sure that his shot had hit. Or how dangerous Martin would still be, for how long, even if he had. At that moment Zimmerman was too shocked that he had fired at an actual living person - once - to immediately do it again.
After all of that, the only thing to be said besides Are you OK, George, and What help do you need now? is, Shame about the kid - but there was nothing for it but for you to put him down.
