HBOs Real Time host Bill Maher asked female Saudi Arabian filmmaker Haifaa al Mansour about the obstacles she encountered as a female filmmaker on Friday and spoke out against the nations governing religion of Islam.
Maher noted that some nations in the Middle East are becoming more conservative in regards to Islam after the Arab Spring, which, in his view, isnt necessarily a good thing.
The problem is, the Arab Spring kind of turned into the Arab Winter, Maher said. [A]nd Saudi Arabia, I mean, is the most conservative of all. As people criticize me for what I say about the Muslims. I love all people. And its funny because the people that come up to me privately say, Im with you about the Muslims. Its the American Muslims. Its the liberals here who dont quite get it. Were not criticizing people. Were criticizing a belief system that turns people into something we wish they wouldnt be.

Maher better have his life insurance policy updated.
He’s all over the map. You’ve GOT to wonder about the sanity of folks like that. No core.
Yup.
?????
It's far more likely that Maher hates all people as he wanders between insulting children with Down's syndrome to criticizing Islam. But there's a big difference. Sarah Palin is slightly less likely to lop off his head.
“Were criticizing a belief system that turns people into something we wish they wouldnt be.
Hey, that’s actually a pretty good line...
Example of “Stopped-clock-is-correct-twice-a-day” syndrome..
I never listen to him and I don’t about anything he says.
Obama took credit for the Arab Spring. Will he take credit for the strick fundamentalist Islamic rule that is transpiring there now????
Exactly right, all over the map, but his brief moments of clarity like this (very obvious) statement, only underscore
the REST of him, the 99.9% of the time he slanders Sarah Palin, dresses up like Steve Irwin with a bloody fin sticking out of his abdomen, etc. etc.——the list of his offenses piles up daily, and his posture is one of “defiant independence” in philosophy, with his most vile acts and words to be taken with a grain of salt as “humor”. (”Hey.come on,I’m a COMEDIAN, after all!”) The usual dodge employed by malignant spirits like Maher.
The only reason he would moderate those views is because he can't keep an audience.
I see this as a sign even BM’s extreme leftist audience is getting sick and tired of the extreme leftist view, and if the extreme left is sick of the leftist view you know where the rest of the country is.
He loves everybody...except Christian, White Conservatives.
Aren’t there any transgender Islamic folks that we could talk to? Or maybe some midget wrestler Islamic folks? Or maybe some Amazon manly Islamic women? Or maybe some intellectual dopey gay Islamic men? Or maybe some reformed anti-elitist French Muslims? Or maybe some Latino Muslims?
If it were not for FR, I would not know what Bill Maher or Chis Matthews say, ever
But will the Fatwah still be issued????
There are three types of political commentators. The first kind are those who do it for the money. These include Bill oReily and to an extent Anne Coulter. Yes, they have conservative credentials, but they basically read the ether and orient their views to match what will give them the highest financial return. This is why every now and then they will get it wrong. The second type are the lunatics. These are true believers, almost always liberals, and examples include Susan Estrich and to an extent Colmes (although colmes hidee it well). The third are the eclectics ....similar to the firstgroup in that they do it for money, but similar to thesecond in the tabidness of some of their beliefs. All over the place. Maher falls here, and after listening/reading what he says for years I doubt he is even liberal. What he is is a high-elitist with a strong libetarian leaning, who just knows his bread is buttered on the liberal side. Every now and then he forgets that and ends up insulting liberals in ways even Ann Coulter wouldn’t.
Too late, Bill.
It’s never too late.
And it’s never over.
Yeah, and you voted for its architect.
It's fun to compile a mental list of what words could go between "don't" and "about" in that sentence.
