What is now happening is the birds are avoiding areas with GMO crops.

So you are saying that a bird can tell the difference between heirloom corn and GMO corn?

How do they know the difference?

I have read that buzzards can smell a rotting carcass from miles away. Does it smell different?

I understand that owls can hear a mouse burrowing under the snow. Maybe GMO corn sounds different.

All animals but humans have sensitive olifactory receptors that can warn them of deleterious substances.

(humans may have such senses too, but just ignore them)
