My son graduated and is moving to Waco, TX in August to pursue his PhD in Physics(quantum optics). He is being paid to be a teaching assistant while studying. We are in the process of helping him look for one bedroom apartments in the Waco area. His politics, when he chooses to express them, are conservative. He does shoot occasionally.
Any locals to the Waco area: Do you have any suggestions as to what to expect? Areas to avoid? We've done a lot of research online but really would appreciate any input from Freepers who actually live there.
Thanks!

Before I respond I need to know how many dimensions he believes there are? 10, 11 or 12?

So he’s 22 or 23 or maybe even older? Time to cut the apron strings, wish him well, and let him find his own way.

Perhaps he could live with Leonard and Sheldon.

You still believe in integer-based dimensions?

He’s 21. We’re only helping if asked. He’ll be fine.

He will enjoy Waco then. The freedom of Texas is still here.

I thought the same thing. lol
To: shelterguy
The thought did occur, but he’s moving to Texas, not Pasadena.

I don’t know the area, but I just have to comment on how refreshing it is to see a family sticking together and helping one another. I hope you continue to be a strong influence in your son’s life. Especially while he’s faced with diverse and often negative influences at college.

He’ll have to sign a roommate agreement written by Sheldon.

Stockton, Ca. He will love ANYWHERE coming from Stockton. My condolences. Just kinda joking.
I don't know Waco at all, but I have a friend from Northern California who has a daughter attending Baylor - and she LOVES it.

That is sound advice. Seriously I wish him well. Going for a PhD at 21 is extremely impressive.

You still believe in integer-based dimensions?"Nope. String theory only works with at least ten. Or so it seems... :{)
