CBC out of Canada reports unnamed Syrian officials speaking to the Associated Press denying the use of chemical weapons against foreign jihadist 'rebels' within the country that seemed to surface yesterday and that were repeated by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
The report also quotes a Syrian lawmaker Sharif Shehadeh:
Shehadeh called the U.S. claims "lies" and likened them to false accusations that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction a claim U.S. policymakers had used to justify the invasion of that country in 2003.
"What is being designed for Syria now is similar to what happened in Iraq when Colin Powell lied in the Security Council and said Iraq possesses weapons of mass destruction prior to the U.S. invasion and occupation of that country," he said.
Meanwhile Israeli officials are calling for the US to respond to the now debunked assertion that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons:
"I think the U.S., as the leader of the Western world, should lead the efforts with our partners in Europe and Israel and to take action with what we're seeing happening today in Syria," Israeli Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon told CNN.
The question remains why Israel is so eager to see the collapse of the Assad regime. Do they believe they can control whatever Muslim Brotherhood puppet replaces him? If so this is extremely naive thinking from our Israeli friends as it would no doubt signal the start of an even longer and more protracted civil war. Also the evidence from Egypt suggests that when the Muslim Brotherhood takes control they immediately persecute Christians, re-write laws along fundamentalist religious grounds and cause political and social unrest.
Taft is just one of the most prominent Republicans I identify with.
My conservatism is based on my support for the constitution. I’d like to shut down much of the Federal government if I could.
I’m not here to debate the Iraq war from 10 years ago.
If people want to attack because I’m opposed to pre-emptive war then this is really silly...
I’m more interested in exposing the Obama administration and its latest scandal which I call ‘guns 2 jihadists’ and the international ‘fast and furious’. That’s what im seeking to blog about (for no payment or profit).
I believe in truth, liberty and justice.
Ah, going off on a tangent like JohnGalt used to do when he was losing an argument.

That’s from the Duelfer report which once was found online at the CIA website, but has since been scrubbed because it didn’t fit the Obama admins talking points at the time.
You’ll note: Mustard gas shell, and the mention of a Sarin shell found by an airport.
The sarin shell had been rigged as an IED.
The shell detonated and exposed two or three U.S. soldiers to Sarin.
Thread about it was here on FR by the way.
So your statement of “Never were any WMD” is a lie.
ONE shell is proof.
What part do you identify with Taft on?
Saying Hitler wasn’t a threat to us?
Blaming us for Japan’s attack on Pearl?
Opposing trying Nazis for war crimes in military courts?
Creation of the FDA?
Creation of a food welfare program for Europe?
Creation of government subsidized housing (ie, government urban ‘projects’)?
..and let’s not even get into some of Taft’s racist and pro-segregation views.
[[I remember people moving the goalposts repeatedly on what constitutes proof of WMD.]]
Another typical leftist strategy- and let’s not forget, they always say “Just show us soem ‘real proof’ and we’ll be the first ones to admit we were wrong’ - but of course EVERY TIME REAL evidence is presented, they poo poo it and move the goal post even frurther out- just like they are doign with hte terrorist bombers- even askign whether it was actual terrorism, or if it was just somke ‘confused impressionable kids makign a political statement’ and htese leftist scum even go so far as to blame the victims instead of the terrorists- just like our dear leader did for several weeks- blaming AN AMERICAN for makign a youtube video and ‘startign the ‘uprising’ (He wouldn’t even call it an acto fo terrorism)
To the left, there is no such thing as an absolute (as wtienssed by their continual attacks on Christianities morality values and absolute universal moral code- and upon our very constitution-
..and yet a major point of your original thesis was that. How quaint to pull back now.
I’m really not a troll or left-wing so wish you’d stop attacking me because I oppose pre-emptive war like Taft and many Republicans before and after him (he’s just one of the most famous).
What on earth could I gain from trolling? I like Jim and FR. I respect what he’s built and intend to be respectful. I like most of the posters here. We won’t agree on anything but so what, can’t we debate?
I am not a liberal, left wing or anything else. Just a limited government conservative and I want to desperately get the word out and co-ordinate activism with freepers.
If you check my history all throughout the gun debate i was posting which senators to target in order to help KILL THE BILL. We were successful.
If I was a left-wing troll, would I be doing that?
My goal posts tend to be:
No war unless explicitly attacked.
They dont need to be shifted or anything to suit an agenda.
I am not a leftist!
The fact that one of the foundations for your thesis are left wing lies that you repeat and defend is one.
The fact that you cite over and over your hero is an isolationist, racist, proponent of welfare, old school Rockefeller Republican who is no way reflective of the Conservative values of Reagan, Goldwater, and Buckley is the second.
Exactly.
They do it every time, and now they’re saying that taking pictures either provokes terrorism or IS a precursor to it.
Idiocy.
I agree mostly with his position on war and foreign policy. He is considered a Republican statesman and for me is up there with some on the right who I admire (along with Coolidge, Reagan, Eisenhower who cut the defense budget and many others)
Thanks for that list- I’ll be bookmarking it- shame soem peopel deny such overwhelming evidence for their own political purposes- sad to think that htere are peopel that can clsoe hteir eyes, pretend stuff liek that and the holocaust and other attrocities never happened because of an ideological fervour-
Goldwater was anti-war wasnt he? I like him too.
I didn’t post a thesis... I posted a quote from a syrian official.
But then of course I get viciously attacked and labelled left-wing and accused of reading the HuffPost LOL..
I’ve got two windows open right now: drudgereport, FreeRepublic and Hotair.
Now i’m about to listen to Hannity and get some work done.
Some leftist me,
Correction: ‘two = three’ and Sean aint on yet.
Goldwater wasn’t a blanket anti-war for anti-war sake like people like Taft. For example, he was a very strong critic of Johnson’s handling of Vietnam (which is where the false anti-war title came from). He actually thought LBJ was being to passive and suggested the use of atomic weapons to end it quickly.
Goldwater was actually called a ‘warmonger’ at the time.
Yep, he was so anti-war they made the “Daisy Ad” against him.
Thanks for that I’m far too young to know.
Goldwater from my research i probably would have supported him and been a very vocal supporter of. Certainly compared to Nixon (LOL) i’d have taken him any day.
But otherwise Coolidge, Eisenhower and Taft are others I admire.
This doesn’t make me a leftist troll!
Anti-war conservatives have been around a lot longer than little old me.
I’m here to learn and co-ordinate action against the administration. THat’s all..
No other agenda. I dont intend to convert everyone to my way of thinking . I know this is fruitless. And i’m not trolling you for a response.
Really? How can you be so certain of that? What was in the endless column of trucks that left Iraq for Syria in the days before we moved our troops in? We may find out for sure soon enough if we get involved in Syria.
Hmmm. Which group of lying Moslems to believe?
Actually, I don’t care. Given the nature of his opposition, I think Assad SHOULD be using WMDs against the Al Qaeda and Moslem Botherhood “rebels.” If he is not, it is his funeral (and that of the Alawite minority, the Druze, the Christians and any other religious minority in Syria...).
