About 100 feet from the end of the 26.2-mile Boston Marathon, explosions shook the street and sent runners frantically racing for cover. The marathon finish line, normally a festive area of celebration and exhaustion, was suddenly like a war zone.
These runners just finished and they dont have legs now, said Roupen Bastajian, 35, a Rhode Island state trooper and former Marine. So many of them. There are so many people without legs. Its all blood. Theres blood everywhere. You got bones, fragments. Its disgusting.
Had Mr. Bastajian run a few strides slower, as he did in 2011, he might have been among the dozens of victims wounded in Mondays bomb blasts. Instead, he was among the runners treating other runners, a makeshift emergency medical service of exhausted athletes....

Looks like he is or was wearing blue jeans. A high speed blast of small glass fragments could have acted something like a sand-blaster, shredding the front of his pants. He's lucky, if being in this sort of circumstance can ever be called lucky.
Oh I doubt he'll do THAT. Don't want the boy to do anything THAT extreme. After all it's only the little people who got hurt - the ones without armored limos and a dedicated regiment of taxpayer funded bodyguards, and what's better still is that this will give him and his legion of JBTs the excuse to abrogate more rights. When you come right down to it this is something for the government to celebrate, not mourn.
Prayers to all dealing with these injuries and their families.
Prediction: within two years, one of those who lost a foot or leg in the attack will complete the Boston Marathon (possibly in the wheelchair division).
Bruce Mendelsohn, 44, was at a party in a third-floor office above where the bombs went off. His brother, Aaron, had finished the race earlier.
There was a very loud boom, and three to five seconds later there was another one, said Mr. Mendelsohn, an Army veteran who works in public relations. He ran outside. There was blood smeared in the streets and on the sidewalk, he said.
Mr. Mendelsohn could not be sure how many people had been killed or wounded, but among the bodies he said he saw women, children and runners. The wounds, he said, appeared to be lower torso.
Add to that the fact that the bombs were set to detonate just when the largest number of runners would be at or near the finish line, and it becomes pretty clear that this was the work of experienced terrorists (my, my where did they get that experience) who knew how to build and place highly lethal bombs that would hit people in their lower torsos and knew exactly when and where to place the bombs for maximum publicity. Of course, that naturally rules out all of the Illegal's co-religionists in the always peaceful ROP.

Most of the wounds look like an IED of .22 caliber and smaller ball bearings or BBs. My uneducated guess is they were molded in a claymore fashion do be direction at knee level, so many lost lower limbs. pottery comes to mind, kiln fired clay full of ball bearings, and a crude but effective explosive component such that may have been home made black powder.
I do not think over the counter black powder was bought, even so far as I might consider the bomb component could have even been mostly made of nothing more than a million or so match heads. Something under the radar.
Definitely. That pretty well makes it the likely work of an IED master builder who knew exactly how to build and place his devices. Want to guess what ROP they all belong to??
Staggered explosive timing also came to mind, panic the crowd to run right into the next kill zone, like out of a certain manual I read many years ago.
We must have gone to the same "library."
They are horrific pictures, even more graphic than JUST the poor man who lost both lower legs. God help them.
Black Power would be consistent with the reports of a sulfer-like smell.
Make that Black POWDER.
Yep, I was beginning to wonder if the Black Panthers were behind it. ;)
