The minimum wage in San Jose is $10 per hour.
Which means that a Big Mac is $8, yes?
Sure! Give everybody a $ 2.50 per hour pay raise!
Now, what is the government going to do to the “receivers” to make THEIR contribution to the company WORTH $2.50 more per hour?
/sarchasm - that gaping whole between a liberal and reality
The fast food industry is responsible for more deaths and cost of healthcare than gun violence is. Is it because that it’s cheaper to eat poorly than it is to eat healthy?
Over 1100mg of Sodium and 900 calories, 375 from fat for a tier 2 Cheeseburger at your favorite fast food burger joint. Then there’s the obligatory Fries and Coke, perhaps a milkshake and your talking more calories, more sodium, more Fat, more Carbs than an otherwise normal healthy person should eat in a day.
Aside from Constitutional prerogatives given to us, perhaps we wouldn’t be doing so bad if Fast Food Menu prices Doubled or Tripled.
Uh...this is not exactly right or the author has poorly stated what they are trying to communicate.
An engine mechanic adds considerably more value, through training and experience, than does the pump attendant. That person is paid much more than the pump attendant.
It is irrelevant what each person “needs”. The Added-Value determines the pay scale.
I don’t know - should McDonalds customers pay $10 for a happy meal?
Fact is, that kind of wage for a position like that is just silly. Raise the wage and nearly all the fast food joints will close within weeks.
Detroit has a “Living” wage law which is a super high minimum wage law. If it worked well, Detroit would be very prosperous with a low unemployment rate.
That's worked so well to keep people from smoking, hasn't it???
Personal responsibility is the key here.
It is cruel and heartless to pay anyone less than $30 an hour. Democrats who suggest a lower wage than that must surely hate the poor people. I’d sure like to see them argue against a $30/hr wage. Are they going to push some sort of economic theory that says unjustifiably high wages will lead to some sort of bad economic consequences? Let them make that case. Maybe I’d even agree with them.
Sure if they can do it without raising their prices
“Sure! Give everybody a $ 2.50 per hour pay raise!”
I like to look at that differently. Give everybody a 33 1/3% pay raise. NOW you’re talking!
Thank you Mayor Bloomberg.
McDonald’s can pay whatever they want to pay within the law, but their business model dictates an economical operation in order to offer affordable fast food. Workers in union or government featherbed jobs are not known for being either fast or affordable. And therein lies the dilemma in the notion of high paying McJobs, not that the left is capable of grasping such a thing, or caring if they could.
Mcdonalds will simply lower the quality of their food again and other restaurants will hire more illegals. Problem solved...
The Ordinance went into effect on March 11, 2013.
$8.00?
Perhaps Ronald should grind up some more kangaroo meat from Austrailia, or something that would interest Andrew Zimmern. Then the ‘burgers’ could cost as little as a Krystal or White Castle. Even less.
Should McDonalds Customers pay $15 a burger?
