Obama in Colorado:
" ..... when Michelle came back from doing some campaigning out in rural Iowa. And we were sitting at dinner, and she had been to like a big county, a lot of driving out there, a lot of farmland. And she said, if I was living out in a farm in Iowa, I'd probably want a gun, too. ....."

The headline quote screams the words of a ‘superior’ person talking about ‘less superior’ people. Great Leader will never need a gun because he will always have the Secret Service protecting him. But oh, those poor rubes living on those Iowa farms: those unwashed, uneducated, unilluminated, superstitious, and simple-minded people who cannot send their children on multiple vacations every year and who cannot, themselves, do the things we do nor think the great thoughts we are capable of thinking - of course, if you were like them, you would want a gun. Thank you, Mrs. Great Leader.
hehe
Even a very modest Iowa farm is worth millions of dollars!
Not so much the someones as somethings. It's those 4 legged critters that freak the city kids out.
I used to date a girl from NJ who did a long commute to work in NYC. She took great pride in fearlessly getting in anyone's face. Anyone.
But show her any 4, 6, or 8 legged creature other than a cat or a dog and she was outtahere.
You are right.
Rubes are simply ‘just not like them’.
And the Obamas would be correct in this case.
You can get a shotgun ... and 2 shells ... thats all you need to defend yourself against an intruder on a farm. </sarc>
Imagine if a Republican president made a similar observation about the need to be armed if he were to live in a black urban center.
Interesting take. I never thought of that.
Yep.
But nobody is calling out on how racist Obama ‘sounded’ to other people.
How about “if I was white and walking about in Chicago, I’d probably want a gun”?
“she said, if I was living out in a farm in Iowa,”
SOMEONE ONE WOULD BE FEEDING HER HAY AND MILKING HER!
Yea I”m screaming!
I think she would want one if she lived on N. 5th Street in Philadelphia too.
What stooge and a fool!!!!
BTW as a former narcotics user who frequented the Bulls Head area, among others, it wasn't as rough as it appeared when driving through.
You want REAL DEAL tough, come to Atlanta.
At least the Obamas didn't compare them to PA small town folks.
Not only PA bitter, cling to their guns and bibles, they are homophobes, too.
So Iowa farmers shouldn't have 'as much' complaint.
I carry a gun because I can’t carry a cop. I’m also a better shot then they are.
I’ve got urban liberal cousins. When they come out here, they’re acutely aware of gunfire in the distance and I barely notice it.
Actually, it’s more important to have a gun when you live in a house in Chicago than it is when you live in a farm in Iowa.
Gee Michelle is that gun needed out there in the sticks of Iowa to keep the wolves from eating your babies? I thought us redneck hicks just bitterly clung to our guns and religion because were were not enlightened by liberalism.
Your girlfriend was a suburbanite who happened to work in the City. That’s another beast (no offense intended) altogether.
But you’re right, anyone without rural exposure tends to be kind of embarrassingly afraid around large animals. I remember how afraid Colin Powell was of the cows on W’s ranch.
***...and they wonder why the home invasion crime is low on farms.****
They happen more than is reported. Think back to IN COLD BLOOD.
We have had several reports over the last 30 years of such things happening in rural areas.
One funny incident happened years ago. A farmer had just cleaned and loaded his .22 when two toughs burst in the door.
They did not walk out.
Two others bit the dust when the homeowner pulled out a 30-30.
There are others that did not end so well.
One widow woman had a home invasion. She was severely beat but survived. She carried a gun on her person from that day till she died.
Stay armed!
