Rather than Easter, Google's doodle today commemorates farm labor leader Cesar Chavez's birthday. That's brought much criticism, although Chavez himself was a devout Christian.
Google is taking heat for its Easter Sunday doodle that cartoon modification of its logo that changes from day to day.
Today, the middle letter is a round portrait of the late migrant farm labor union leader Cesar Chavez.
Like many such doodles, it comes on the birthday of the subject. Mr. Chavez was born March 31, 1927 in Yuma, Arizona.
But appearing on Easter one of the holiest days for hundreds of millions of Christians around the world the Chavez Google doodle has set off a mini-storm of protest, including (inevitably) in the twitterverse.
Some examples:
Unbelievable! Their true colors are showing! Yahoo here I come!
Damn Google . No Easter wishes from those Atheists.
A huge BOOO!! to Google for making their holiday doodle about Cesar Chavez's 86th birthday instead of Easter (celebrated by over a billion).
I've got nothing against Cesar Chavez, but even Chavez was a Catholic. I doubt he'd want Google to recognize him on Resurrection Day.
Better a dead lefty, them a risen Lord.(continued)

My pleasure! Good Luck!
I had tried to find FR threads months ago but Bing just didn't have it; google has long had FR updates within minutes.
Another plus for Bing.
Goo-, goo-, google good-bye. This time I mean it. It looks like Bing can match you on most features.
Would you chose a car dealership based on the color of the building's trim?
If that competing dealer was actively working to spread islam around the globe like google has, yes.
Bing has a great animated background today that slaps at google.
Its got the Easter Island stone heads grinning. LOL
Did you see Bing’s search page yesterday?

What a hoot! (and a great slap at Google!)
Hi again! I’m sorry it took so long to write back. Believe it or not, I was able to see the expressions move on the Easter Island statues. I LOVED it!
I wanted to ask you a question. Re: the diver in the grotto. Does the image actually move [i.e.: I’m thinking the bubbles & fish, primarily], or is it just a matter of being able to pan around the grotto & see it from all angles?
I looked at it through Google Chrome, as you suggested, & while the image itself didn’t move, I was able to pan around the entire grotto. It was amazing!
Thanks for your help!
That is exactly the way I saw it! It was a moving panorama, but not animated. I'm glad you saw it too, I didn't want to think I was hallucinating! LOL!
To think you had the right solution straight out of the gate—using Chrome. For some reason I didn’t try it then, but I tried it today. I’m so glad you brought the grotto pic to my attention. I really enjoyed seeing it from so many different angles. I like the mist over the lake today also. Very evocative.
Thanks again!
