You don't get it. Scientists - scholars in general - take great delight in aggressively pointing the perceived shortcomings of colleagues. Remember, funding is limited, and few things give more satisfaction than sending some guy packing because of a flawed approach to some problem. Some people will nit-pick the shit out of you.
