Blacks officials in the rapidly deteriorating city of Atlanta decided to sue rather than allow successful White evacuees to incorporate prosperous new cities in the Northern suburbs of Dekalb and Fulton counties.
For years government scandals, rackets, political corruption and charges of bribery have plagued a city which is becoming known as The Detroit of the South, all culminating in the threatened 2013 loss of accreditation for the Dekalb County School System. During that time, communities in the North Atlanta suburbs began the process of incorporating into cities, with 6 having been carved out of the Atlanta hinterland by 2011 as hundreds of thousands of taxpayers were lost from the city's tax base. But the continued electoral fortunesand perhaps, increasing personal wealth of Atlantas politicos depend upon preserving the lynchpin of Democrat politicsrobbing from the rich in order to acquire the votes of the poor. And thats a system which doesnt work very well when...

How DARE those racists leave instead of staying to being raped, murdered and pillaged! /s
News flash: if someone next door does not work, take care of their home, throw trash all over the streets, instigates criminal acts and contant mayhem, allows the community to deteriorate, participates and votes in corrupt politicians who do nothing to truly aid my community ...well, then I don’t care what color they are ...I don’t want to live in the same town as they do.
Hotlanta? *snicker*
Me too. I was scared to death.
Everyone dancing on the head of a pin so as to not have the racist card played.
An honest person cannot escape the Bell Curve of various groups be it the Bell Curve of intelligence, civility, honesty, or dunking a basketball.
Not many communities are enhanced by blacks moving in but there sure a ton of them destroyed.
When ~6.5% (black males) of the US population commit 50% of the crimes once again it is not racist to say so it is the bell curve.
And yes, of course, there are a few on the far right side of the black bell curve who are great people and would be welcome to move into my neighborhood at any time. HOWEVER the bell curve for this group is shifted so far left only those on the far right of the curve are ready for prime time. Hint, obama is not on that far right of the curve.
A lot of drivers down here think that NASCAR is scouting the freeways for potential new drivers, so they have to drive like that to get discovered. ;-)
My father grew up in E. St Louis in the 20s-30s. He always said that it was a dangerous craphole back then and had only gotten worse.
FUBO, FAD & down with the democrat party
I seldom go further South than Roswell, but all that stuff is true.
And even in the rural areas there are idiots who insist on passing on no pass segments of the highway even when the slowpoke in front (me) is going the speed limit or a bit faster. Recently passed a head-on on US 53 between Gainesville and Dawsonville. Both drivers killed. So sad.
Me? I drive the speed limit (or slower at night or in the rain) and leave 3-5 seconds between me and the next car. I like to brake by taking foot off the gas and coasting down. My bad habit is listening to books on CD most of the time.

It is “Detoilet”, not “Detroit”!

Ha! Makes sense, people from those states don’t freak out and end up skidding out in a millimeter of snow, like folks down south. I saw that happen in AZ when they had a light dusting, there were cars all sitting on the side of the road, either because they skidded off the road, or just because they were too afraid to drive until the snow stopped.
Chicago is on the same road, but it will take much longer to fully collapse, if it ever happens. It’s just got a lot more going for it than most of these other cities. No matter how you slice it, there will be a major city where Chicago is located geographically. You just can’t reroute the Mississippi, the Great Lakes, our railroad lines, highways, power grid, telecommunications, and air traffic to go through somewhere else.
Sorry, but the truth hurts. PC will keep the truth from being said.
I agree that it would probably have been better form FR’s point of view not to mention the races of the majority of people fleeing, or the race of those in charge of the city, but that is the way it is.
Better not to mention race?
You haven't lived until you risk your life by riving on the same slippery streets as those who have no idea of what they are doing. I got my learner's permit in November of an upstate NY Winter and learned how to drive on ice/snow early. Most "locals" down here (transplanted to MS) haven't a clue.
You are dead-on. This is all about taxes. Always is. I live in MN, and though there are naturally plenty of blacks in the Twin Cities, the majority, as with the rest of tge state, is white. It’s not like it used to be, when they called one of them “Murderapolis.” But like with every other center of population, people prefer to commute from the outskirts. Why wouldn’t you? Everything good about cities—commerce, high culture—can be enjoyed without living there, and living there sucks. Nothing to do with race.
Environmentalists have their stupid reasons to grumble. No one really cares. Were it up to them, the internal combustion engine would be banned right along with “suburban sprawl,” so obviously their heads are up their asses. But they get a say because they’re useful, and the ones running the big cities—libs, of course—need excuses to grab the money that’s desperately trying to flee their governance. They’ll use racism as an excuse, too. Whatever it takes. That money’s gotta stay put
You’re always on the road with people who have no idea what they’re doing, wherever you live. There are teenagers, obviously, who have to gain experience the hard way. There are the elderly, who, whether or not they ever learner, eventually either forget or lose the coordination and timing to put experience to use. Then there are born bad drivers, who never could learn.
"Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?" - George Carlin
Three years ago my family drove to Chicago and drove to Santa Monica via Route 66.
Couldn’t believe it but the guide book said that when you get close to East St. Louis to get on the freeway and go around or quite possibly get “mugged or worse”.
