I don’t really see Rand Paul being the conservative pick. He’s not crazy much like his dad, but he still has some pretty libertarian and non-conservative views.
He’s just a “darling” today because he attacked Obama about drones killing Americans. Tomorrow, he’ll do something “wrong”, and everybody will be calling him a RINO and saying he is finished and trying to gin up a tea party candidate to attack him.
IN fact, I’m surprised he’s still the darling since he said McConnell is a good conservative who deserves to be re-elected. Because McConnell is currently “out” with the “conservatives”, because having a 100% ACU rating doesn’t really mean anything when you don’t somehow kill enough democrat senators so you have a majority and can pass legislation.
The libertarian ideals aren’t what will hurt him. What will hurt him are the libertarian voters who immediately declare themselves to be a vast majority and then set out to destroy everyone else only to finish with low single digit votes.

Would you rather have (choose one):
a. Jeb Bush
b. Chris Christie
c. Rand Paul
??
I suspect that three years of voting records may do more to damper the Paul glee than anything else. JMO
I might disagree with you abit on this one.
What we need, is someone who is much farther to the right and this would be Rand Paul.
By having someone who is so “ conservative libertarian”, we might be able to get more “moderate right” solutions.
