The president himself has caused the fears and whining by flying around the country beating the drums of doom.

As long as the low information Obama voter base continues to grow, we are toast as America.

The truth is that even if the sequester goes into effect, the U.S. government will still take in more money than ever before in 2013...

Aha! So it's NOT a revenue problem.

Somebody should ping Ubama. Somebody's been feeding him false information.

You have to wonder why they use the word, “sequester,” instead of “budget cuts.”

They’re not “low information voters”. They’re ignorant, lazy, indifferent, and/or apathetic parasites. There’s no reason to parrot some idiotic “phraseology” in describing these worthless POS socialist-loving scumbags, just because Rush is too gutless to say what they actually represent.

“Obama voter base continues to grow, we are toast as America.”

If you find that distasteful then my opinion stands as:

“Obama voter base continues to grow, we are toast as America.”

Get back to me when Hillary is President in four years.

You have to wonder why they use the word, “sequester,” instead of “budget cuts.”

Because they're not budget cuts. They're reductions in the amount of annual spending; these departments are all receiving more funding than they received last year, just not as much as they were expecting. In addition, they keep using the word "sequester" because the a$$ clown empty suit believes that he has successfully convinced the ignorant masses, with the willing assistance of his media propogandists, to lay the blame of the detrimental effects he plans to unleash on the clueless and gutless Repukelicans.

Imagine what will happen when the time comes (not if, when...) where we are forced into having serious cuts like Greece and all the people receiving welfare, social security, and retired as well as current government employees receive their check and it’s half what it was the month before....

I see more and more people making some type of preparations.

There is a moment approaching when we shall have to, as a nation, decide if this mutual suicide pact covering the territory known as “the United States of America” shall continue on its trajectory, or a number of small republics get spun off as the burden of governance becomes too great for any possible recovery.

There is a possible solution in that the electoral map of the most recent voting patterns be separated by “red” and “blue” regions. The “red” region, which is nearly contiguous, could be resolved and consolidated into one republic, while the “blue” regions, scattered and badly fragmented, may have to be constituted as a number of separate little republics. The “red” region would be dedicated to maintaining the spirit and meaning of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution as originally written, and amended as needed over the years (leaving out the 16th, 17th and 18th Amendments, and eliminating the 21st, which was only necessary because of the 18th).

The “blue” republics could go ahead and form whatever cockamamie set of rules they wanted to operate under. But NOBODY could come from these little “blue” republics and try to change the governance of the “red” region.

Low-information voters in the “red” region would be exiled, forcibly if necessary, to one of the “blue” republics.

Obama is already trying to walk back the fear mongering from“immediate, painful spending cuts”a week ago because he was trying to scare people into supporting a repeal of sequester and trying to intimidate the Republicans into caving to him once again to “It’s conceivable that in the first week, the first two weeks, the first three weeks, the first month … a lot of people may not notice the full impact of the sequester” when they held firm under the weight of the propaganda war. I don’t know if the GOP could have won political points with a backbone in the past, but this is sure a damn good place to start.

No one seems to want to recognize that we are on the ‘Titanic’ and all this sequestration crap etc. is just chair arranging.

I'm pretty sure that the entire ‘sequester’ cut could be covered by simply ending every federally paid employee health program and instead handing a check to each employee for the federal contribution made in FY 2011. Employees could go out and buy whatever health insurance they wanted, and pocket the difference. Exception would be active duty soldiers.

Additional ‘cuts’ that would help: Limit federal worker holidays to 7 each year, cap vacations at 2 weeks per year, cap rollovers of sick days to two weeks, end retirement benefits for any appointed or elected official, end health benefits for any employee, appointed or elected official who earns more than $100k, etc.

But of course, that's not how the ‘cuts’ will go in. They will be targeted to have the maximum impact on the public. Why stop the coffee service at the federal office and replace the $100 a month coffee maker with a $20 Mr. Coffee when you can reduce by 20% the number of TSA agents conducting illegal searches of citizens at the airport?

Always, the onus is on the public to make ‘sacrifices’ upon the altar of federal employee largess.

Yes, I know the biggest cost in the federal budget is ‘entitlements’. But maybe, just maybe, if our elected officials had to pay for that latte instead of thinking THEY were entitled to it, they MIGHT just start thinking like a normal citizen again.

The last 4 years have done tons more damage than this puny sequester. It’s just another straw upon the back to find out where the breaking point is.

What really spelled doom for the country was the balance-shift of ‘takers’ overwhelming ‘makers.’ That, and America’s continued downward spiral into cultural degeneracy, as symbolized by the push for homo marriage. The country is a pathetic shadow of what it once was. The question for me has gradually been changing from ‘how’ to salvage the country to whether, at this point, there’s anything left of it even worth salvaging.
