I'm pretty sure that the entire ‘sequester’ cut could be covered by simply ending every federally paid employee health program and instead handing a check to each employee for the federal contribution made in FY 2011. Employees could go out and buy whatever health insurance they wanted, and pocket the difference. Exception would be active duty soldiers.

Additional ‘cuts’ that would help: Limit federal worker holidays to 7 each year, cap vacations at 2 weeks per year, cap rollovers of sick days to two weeks, end retirement benefits for any appointed or elected official, end health benefits for any employee, appointed or elected official who earns more than $100k, etc.

But of course, that's not how the ‘cuts’ will go in. They will be targeted to have the maximum impact on the public. Why stop the coffee service at the federal office and replace the $100 a month coffee maker with a $20 Mr. Coffee when you can reduce by 20% the number of TSA agents conducting illegal searches of citizens at the airport?

Always, the onus is on the public to make ‘sacrifices’ upon the altar of federal employee largess.

Yes, I know the biggest cost in the federal budget is ‘entitlements’. But maybe, just maybe, if our elected officials had to pay for that latte instead of thinking THEY were entitled to it, they MIGHT just start thinking like a normal citizen again.

“...if our elected officials had to pay for that latte...”

They don’t, and neither do their constituents.

They’ve all brought themselves to the position of being brilliant, intellectual geniuses who are above the rest of humanity in their superiority, and everyone else has to pay for the honor of having them around.

Isnt’t it marvelous to have these beings dictating to everyone else? (Absolutely marvelous, darling.)

/S/

IMHO

Spoken like a true MORON. Free coffeemakers, where does that BS come from. We bought our own coffeemaker and coffee is $0.25/cup to pay for coffee and repairs to the coffeemaker. Okay this is a small point, but Idiots like you who don’t know the truth sound just like the rest of the low informed voters. As a 24yr DoD federal worker I for one am sick and tired of being the target of jealous, ignorant, uninformed, simple minded idiots at the end of a keyboard. Damned Right, CUT ENTITLEMENTS!! Starve the leaches and illegals, then we can talk cuts to the rest of teh budget.
