Ayn Rand had it right. Anyone who comes up with a new idea, works hard, and/or lives responsibly has a monkey on their back. Strive to get ahead and the takers are right there demanding a cut. The takers don’t even see anything wrong with it. They’re owed it by virtue of being born.

It’s like the story of the golden goose. The takers wanted more, so they pumped more food (government debt) into the goose to get more eggs. Now the goose has a funnel taped in its throat, they’re force feeding it, and they’re squeezing the poor goose to get it to shoot out a few more eggs. The goose still lives...barely, but it’s definitely on its last legs.

Well at that point It certainly isn’t on any legs anymore. Probably strapped into one of those slings you saw in Coma or whatever it was called.
