On Thursday night’s“The Kudlow Report” on CNBC, conservative commentator Ann Coulter called the media a “threat to democracy” and ripped what she claimed is the blatant hypocrisy of most mainstream outlets.
Host Larry Kudlow focused on the conversation on the Thursday hearing at the Senate Committee on Armed Services, where senators peppered top military officials with questions about the deadly Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya.
“I mean, you really wonder if Democrats would win any elections if we had an honest media in this country,” Coulter said. “As Pat Caddell says, the media is becoming a threat to democracy. The things that they went crazy over when Bush was president — I mean, remember that video at the White House Correspondents’ [Association] dinner? …. He had a little video — I don’t know, like the dog looking for weapons of mass destruction under the White House furniture. … You would think someone died.
“Well, here in this case under Obama, four people did die,” Coulter said, referring to the embassy attack, “and this is coming out five months after it happened, four months after the election? What is with our media?”
The “Mugged: Racial Demagoguery from the Seventies to Obama” author also agreed with Kudlow’s observation that President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were nowhere to be found the night that U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens died.
“This is a major story,” Coulter added. “Americans were dying. I mean, on a few news outlets you would hear about this before the election, that there was time to get helicopters there, to get fighter planes there, to have saved some of these Americans, and we get the cock-and-bull story about some American made video ramping up a spontaneous demonstration, and now we find out that the president and the secretary of state were AWOL.”
What are we gonna do about it?
The U.S. mass media is a greater enemy to the American people than any foreign nation or group.

What do we do about it?
1. Clean up the election system in this country.
2. Run Conservatives.
3. Start up more Conservative News Organizations.
4. Learn how to spread the word in social media.
5. Decide what it means to be conservative...and stick to it.
Actually if I am not mistaken we are a democratic Republic
A bigger problem is the half of the population that believes the MSM without bothering to check them out.
Not a huge Coulter fan, but this is exactly what many of have been saying for a while now.
People are ascribing all these mythical powers to Obama, his campaign prowess, and the brilliancy of Democrats, when in point of clear evidentiary fact, the corrupt MSM have been doing all the heavy lifting so Democrats simply have to be breathing and then win.
We need recognize and fully understand that the power of the corrupt MSM is a direct and immenent threat to our Republic.
Bill Clinton would never have gotten elected and then reelected without the direct assist from the corrupt MSM. Same for Obama.
And the greater danger is is that Obama is growing is his imperialistic rule and we then have guys like Steve Kroft gushing on national TV over Obama and Hillary.
That is the fulcrum of our problem in the Republic.
Ann is 100 percent right on this one.
Ann Coulter, a mainstream media figure, goes on a mainstream media cable channel to complain about the mainstream media. Am I the only one who 1) sees the irony in that and 2) is skeptical about MSM figures complaining about the MSM? Ann Coulter wouldn’t exist as a public figure without the MSM. Does she really want to tear it down or is she paid to say what we want to hear? I’m asking this honestly, because I can’t really tell anymore.
Also, if Al Gore can start his own cable channel, why can’t Ann Coulter?
The media have become a huge problem...and it’s not just the MSM version of the “news”...which has become straight progressive propaganda.
It’s also the talk shows that feature people like Matt Lauer on NBC, and the other libs on ABCNNBC. There’s not even a pretense of objectivity. This is how most Obama voters get their “news”.
Low information voters are told again and again that Republicans are racist and out to take away “rights”. All nonsense...but these people were never trained to think...simply don’t know any better.
Last year, only Gingrich called the MSM out for their bias. Romney was too much the gentleman...nice guys finish last.
Constitutional Republic. Democracy was a dirty word to the Founders and antithesis to the Constitution
How about employ Alinsky’s rules #5 & 13 against specific members of the MSM? Ridicule, personalize, polarize...
Also name calling and shouting are not necessary :)
