We already have the OBC burger here (onion, bacon, cheddar).
I have never understood the appeal of McDonald's. Their sandwiches are just gooey and bland beyond belief.
The only explanation I can come up with is that a significant number of Americans' palates have been dulled.
A buddy of mine at ASU lived on .39 taco bell tacos in 1991. It worked out. Engineering degree with NO debt.
Great post. I remember riding my bicycle to one of the first McDs in Cleveland Ohio around 1962. I definitely remember the 15 cent burgers, they were quite tasty. There were no seats inside at all, just some benches built into the building exterior where you could sit if the weather was decent.
My friend in Wilmington, NC has five stores, and built a church from his 'tithe' (Dennis Anderson, Myrtle Grove Presbyterian (charismatics).
That may be the case nowadays, but forty years ago, their food was really good. I think Roy Kroc would gag if he bit into a Big Mac today.
It has been awhile since I have been to McDonald’s. There are too many menu items. They should just make it simple like In And Out. In addition the meals are not that great and not worth what it costs.
Or it could be, that some people are just too picky.
Large coffee, grilled chicken wrap is 2.60. Works for me.
The grilled onion burger sounds gross and the fish bites ... well, sometimes the jokes just write themselves. But in the spirit of full disclosure, I LOVE McD’s sugar-free iced vanilla coffee. I’ll drive 5 miles out of my way for one ... sure wouldn’t do that for their food.

I saw a huge decline in quality with the transfats bans. Same thing happened with KFC. I’d bet Roy is hanging with the Colonel and they are both shaking their heads...
I'm sure that was the final nail in the coffin of the quality of their food, but the first thing I remember noticing was the lack of flavor in McDonalds sesame seed buns.
When I was a kid, you could smell those sesame seed buns from outside the window, they smelled so good. When you bit into a Big Mac, the flavor rush was heavenly. Today, those buns are nearly tasteless, and there's literally NO aroma to their food.
I figure that it is either the quality has declined greatly or I have aged greatly, therefore my taste buds are getting worn out!
;-)
I find all McDonald’s food a bit gross, but what is it about the grilled onion burger that doesn’t sound good—the grilled onions, cheddar cheese, or burger?
I'm pushing 60, and have wondered the same, but when I bite into a fresh strawberry it tastes just like it did when I was a kid. It ain't me that changed.
Well, maybe two out of three — the cheese is probably OK, but because McD’s gets their food frozen and nukes it in a microwave, somehow that just doesn’t translate into grilled onions. (Grilled, then frozen, then nuked?) Also, personal taste — but I’m just not a fan of their burger meat. Don’t know if there’s some fillers or additives or what that they use — just not for me.
Okay, I’m with you—I’m not a fan of McDonald’s either.
Just didn’t know if it was cheddar and onions you didn’t like.
What meat?
