Dear Governor Romney,
Im writing this letter to you the morning after the last of the presidential debates to apologize to you personally for doing absolutely everything I could think of for four years to stop you from becoming the 2012 Republican nominee. I really didnt know a thing about you, except that you had a lot of kids, were Governor of Massachusetts, and looked like an old movie star and that you came in second last time to John McCain and somehow I got it into my head that this should have disqualified you from running again this year (or that it meant youd repeat McCains anemic campaign and not even try to give Barack Obama a run for his money). Boy, was I stupid..because after these debates and the campaign youve run I have come to realize youre one of the best political strategists Ive ever studied and you are a man who has clearly answered the call of duty when our country needed you the most. I am sorry for not giving you a fair chance until you became the nominee, but Im beyond grateful I have the opportunity today to do anything I can to help your campaign in this home stretch.
What you have managed to do in this general election will be studied and written about for years because even many Republicans have no clue how smart youve played things. A lot of people are going to have pleasantly bewildered faces on November 6th as the electoral college results pour in and it becomes clear why you did everything you did for the last several months; its going to be like the end of one of those old M. Night Shyamalan films where the pieces all fit together and the audience finally gets the big twist...

and thank you for demonstrating the true meaning of honesty and integrity!
I also agree this strategy has been masterful and we're having to look in the rear view mirror to get the big picture.
Of course, he hasn't won yet, but it's looking good. Last night I waited for Romney to deliver the knock out blow to Zero but it didn't come. Now I think perhaps he knew what he was doing.
Right.
And the forum is just all clogged up with FReepers apologizing to fellow FReepers for mercilessly slamming them for even the slightest support of Romney.
And there is one who is conspicuously silent on the issue. Yeah, I said it.
How can he possibly stand firm on conservative principles when he has never really shown he has any?
I pray to God he wins and I really hope the best for his presidency, but conservative? I think not.
Santorum and Gingrich I supported initially, but Romney will be Reaganesque compared to Obama.
Many SCOTUS justices will be retiring soon...if Obama is re elected to a second term, political correctness and secularism will rule and further liberal policies would ruin this country to the point we could face another Civil War.
I am convinced Romney can be a good president if he governs to the right as much as possible. With his business experience, I believe he can fix much of this fiscal mess out.
As I’ve said before, I did not support Mitt, but when my candidate did not run and the one I voted for dropped out, I went to my knees in prayer for weeks. The Lord told me Mitt was His candidate, to the best that I can tell Him speaking to me. Later, when he chose Paul Ryan, I was elated. As the campaign has gone forward I have been amazed at Mitt’s strategy. Whether he feels it is from God, or if it is his own perception of the best way to run a campaign, I will not argue. Those are semantics for others. But, I have become more impressed all the time. In what seemed to be weaker than the first debate, I waited and listened to them over and over again to get the idea that Mitt was trying to put forward and now I feel that it was played superbly! Way to go, Mitt! May God bless you and give you favor. I close by saying it is our response to pray daily for him and Paul, to keep them accountable and to remember that neither Mitt nor Paul can save America. Only God can, if He chooses to have mercy. Father, God, please have mercy on us. May we live up to the Christian ideals that define true faith through Christ our Lord, and make us righteous in Your sight.
Nice letter from Kevin. Several years ago, he hilariously dumped Romney into the “soggy mayonnaisse sandwich” of the Republican party. He’s obviously changed his mind. A lot of us did. But we are going to have to eat crow. And eat it happily, I hope!
WOW, what a letter!!!
I must say that I’m in total agreement with the author. 2ndDivisionVet, I know you too share a common thread as far as the bits about Palin.
Facts are that NOBODY will ever be perfect all the way around. Never gonna happen! What one may see as perfect, another will find faults.
Fact two, Mitt Romney is a bonafide turnaround guy with a stellar record of doing just that. That is exactly the prescription for what our country needs at this point in time.
Mitt has surprised many of us and I believe will continue to pleasantly do so in the future as our next president. But like Reagan used to say “Trust but verify”.
fellow FReepers mercilessly slamming them for even the slightest support of Romney
*********
I can understand political differences but a lot of the criticism directed at Romney on this site was completely over the top and hysterical at times. If Romney saves us from Obamageddon, it’s OK with me that he’s not the perfect ideal of a conservative. But at this point we certainly owe it to him to be fair minded and give him a chance.
Romney will pay a huge price if he wins the presidency. The Left will hate him with a passion that will far exceed their insane hatred of GWB. They will mercilessly and relentlessly badger and criticize him since he was the one who deposed their messiah. And conservatives will not be easy on him either. On top of that, Obama will leave Mitt a mess of monumental proportions. It won’t be an easy ride.
I could have written much of this letter.
The turning point for me came earlier this month and I am now an enthusiastic Romney voter, no longer holding my nose but chomping at the bit to vote.
The primaries were contentious, there were so many factions pulling every different way that we were in danger of losing sight of the goal no matter who the nominee.
Romney has proven to be a fierce fighter unafraid of conflict, unafraid of being attacked and unafraid of taking the consequences for his own actions.
A vote for Obama/Biden is a vote forward into the abyss.
A vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote for Real Recovery.
There are still some who will not vote for Romney, though I think his performance in October may have changed a lot of fence sitters or protest voters.
If he wins, and I pray the Lord let it be so, we will be here watching his every move and doing everything we can to see that he holds up his end of the bargain.
First things first. We need a win on Nov. 6th, a win for the WH and a win for both houses of Congress so that on Jan 20. 2013, we are ready to get the real recovery started.
I agree. With all my misgivings about the guy (which are all probably true) he is the right guy to turn this country around. We will no doubt have to fight with him from time to time, but thats a far better scenario than the present one. Fighting with someone who ultimately means well for America is way better than fighting with someone who is determined to do us harm.
A vote for Obama/Biden is a vote forward into the abyss.
At full tilt.
A vote for Romney/Ryan is a vote for Real Recovery.
I agree with you all the way.
He wasn’t my first choice, he was near the bottom for me.
Just goes to show you that our worst is a giant compared to their best.
And anyway, he’s growing on me.
He is going to win.
The Bildergergs selected Obamski over Hillary in 2008 (she dropped from the race the day after they both met the Bildergergers). This year they are throwing the Kenyan under the bus.
Mitt attended their annual meeting this year and right away things started going his way.
What makes me think this? I noticed that Mitt never says he's going to make the US energy independent...he always says he's going to make North America energy independent...why include Mexico and Canada (both already EI)?
That got me thinking and digging. The dots connect a North American Union along the Bilderberg model...and that means the Super Corridor.
Am I wrong? Time will tell but in my experience 1+1+1 always equals 3.
I will never forget, “I won.”
Obama never tried and never intended to try to work with anyone for reasonable solutions to the problems this country faced and still faces.
He is a malignant narcissist ideologue and wrought such havoc on this country that it will indeed take years to right the ship.
Many of us here were turned off by Romneycare, still are, but the reality is that Romney, working with the elected leaders of his state, signed that bill. I believe that the states have a right to do so within their borders. Those unhappy with the result can vote to change it or move. That is the glory of our country.
I have to admit Romney has been FAR better a candidate than I ever expected.
I was a Bachmann supporter, then a Perry supporter, then a Cain supporter, etc...
Mitt won the primary fair and square though and in the process probably did indeed become our best candidate to defeat the Kenyan. Never thought that would happen, but glad to be proven wrong.
Well-said, subterfuge..... WTG
However. I don't agree with your statement: ~~ "And the forum is just all clogged up with FReepers apologizing to fellow FReepers for mercilessly slamming them for even the slightest support of Romney." ~~ I'm seeing more like 'yeah...we're with you and have been from the start, Mitt."
When are the FR SHEEPLE going to say they were wrong? For months, there have been almost daily comments about how they are never going to vote for Romney, or ridiculous things like "I can go to my grave happy, knowing I didn't vote for Romney" or, "I'll just stay home on election day". FReeper 'comebacknewt', being one of the few exceptions.
You'll pay higher taxes and have less freedom whether the blue blood banker faction of the Washingtonians represented by MYTH Romney wins or the communist faction run by Hussein stays in power.
Call me when good old White Horse Romney dismantles the IRS and TSA.
No solutions come from DC.
Only more regulations, more taxes, and less freedom come from DC.
It would have been soooo easy to mess the campaign up, but WMR rose to the challenge of combating a lying poc AND the lapdog media.
May God bless WMR greatly, and may he protect and heal our great nation.
