On MSNBC’s post-debate wrap-up from Hempstead, N.Y., anchor and “Hardball” host Chris Matthews praised CNN’s Candy Crowley for making a charge that Republican nominee Mitt Romney was wrong in challenging the president’s “terror” description in his response to last month’s Benghazi, Libya attack.
And even thought Crowley later admitted Romney was “right in the main,” Matthews and his panel praised Crowley for her courage.
“Do you realize, Joy — you’re a woman here, let me tell you, do you realize the guts it took for Candy, even crystal in memory, knowing he had said ‘an act of terror,” Matthews said. “Knowing it was on her mind, that it had been in her notebook and that she had been there. If she had been wrong on that, the hell she would have taken from all of these media watchers from the right. I mean, unbelievable.”
Matthews’ panel, which included The Grio’s Joy Reid and the Huffington Post’s Howard Fineman, elaborated on why they thought the “Hardball” host was right on target with his observation.
REID: She is anyway.
MATTHEWS: What’s their case now? She was right.
REID: In the spin room afterwards, a lot of the complaining was about her.
MATTHEWS: Why?
REID: And people insisting she was wrong, but you know what she wasn’t wrong. She’s a reporter. That’s why it’s important to have a journalist in that situation. And it provided Romney’s I think most embarrassing moment of the night because he sat there. He leaned his chin out, he literally put his eyebrows up. And he was wrong.
FINEMAN: He thought he was moving in for the kill at that point.
MATTHEWS: And I think the president lured him in, so he said let’s move on. Let’s move on, like I really don’t want to test this moment.
You’re right — and I’m afraid the takeaway from this one will be a big plus for Obama. Our guys lost in that exchange, and like a real sports pro does after he makes a bad play, sometimes you just have to suck it up and let it go.
This will cost Romney points in the polls.

If Obama said it was an act of terrorism from the beginning, why did he and Hillary spend $70,000 on an “apology” video to Muslims, and had an American citizen arrested for this video? Then sending Jay Carney, Susan Rice, and Hillary to lie for him. I just wish Romney mentioned the 70K apology video and asked when the American people are going to be reimbursed for it.

But the trump of them all is when the woman stood up and said she is not happy with the last 4 years but blames it on overseas and Bush. How was Romney different from Bush because he;s a republican, you'd think Bush was a demon from hell or something the way she spoke,
WTH was that about, , these questions were pathetic, Crowley got it wrong, she picked the wrong questions and her bias was out there for all to see and she got bullied by obama just like Biden bullied his way through his debate.
You also got it right about when Romney was making a point about Fast and furious, as soon as Romney tried to talk about this she cut him off but let obama talk and talk and talk and talk and talk.
Romney killed the Marxist on the economy and deficits. Libya is down the list of issues that matter to the mushy undecideds. But there is no way Obama can “win” on this issue, as the facts are the facts. An ambassador is DEAD, and Obama and his sociopathic minions all lied. Further, the next debate is all foreign policy, and Romney (hopefully) will set the record straight in very clear terms:
1. Security was asked for.
2. It was not received.
3. An ambassador and 3 others were brutally killed.
4. You blamed a video. Your minions blamed a video. On TV and to the UN.
5. Against all evidence that was in your hands you never called it a terrorist attack until weeks later.
6. Your foreign policy is based on illusion and deception, and fails to recognize the realities of the world. Al Qaeda and its derivatives are quite alive and well.
It is typical of the way “O” has handled EVERYTHING.
He is so disinclined to the idea of personal responsibility, so unqualified at decision-making and incapable of commitment that his responses ALWAYS take on this imprecise, ill-defined and ambiguous character.

On each item, like speeches before the coffins, order to lower flags to half mast, etc., the word "terror" (or "terrorism") only appears in that one generic statement made from the Rose Garden - and I don;t think Obama wants to say that he jumped to the conclusion it was terrorism, when the administration line was that investigation had to be done.
Crowley was wrong but the press is carrying her water.

“I want to make sure,” Mr. Romney said. “Get the transcript,” the president said. Then Ms. Crowley jumped in to do her own fact-check, on the spot. “It — it — it — he did in fact, sir. … He did call it an act of terror.”
The truth is, he didn’t. The day after the attack, he said only this: “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.” It took another two weeks before the White House would label the attack an act of terror........"
As a proud New Yorker, I was embarrassed by those Long Islanders last night. Stupid questions combined with stupid accents. Who can forget the dimwit who asked Romney how he was personally different from George Bush????????
