.22 is an accurate round, if in the hands of someone who can shoot.
Problem is just as described. It can go straight through.
No major arteries dissected. No broken bones. No damage to the spinal cord or nervous system. No hydrostatic shock, causing bleeding in the brain, etc.
.22 is good for small game, you could even drop a deer if you get lucky, but it’s not at all a zombie-stopper.
If you had grown up in the country, in circumstances were you had to take deer with a .22 or go hungry, you would know luck doesn't have a thing to do with it.
It is also a Mafia favorite for revoking franchises.
Sure it is.
It only takes 2 or 3 seconds to dispatch 4 to 10 rounds accurately. And especially at close range, with the right ammo, a .22 will stop and very likely kill even the largest lumberhead.
YES! A .22LR IS a Zombie Stopper and the BEST SHTF weapon. Ammo is cheap. You can have a lifetime supply for use AND trade. And with all the HK-MP5 accessories plus silencer, collapsible stock, 100 round drum magazine, and LIGHT WEIGHT for both the arms and ammo, it IS the ULTIMATE TEOTWAWKI weapon of choice.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. My dad used to knock off Mule deer with single shots to the lungs - about the same tactic as a bow-hunter uses. Once he even mistakenly killed an elk.
Later on, when I lived in the Alaskan bush, I was out cutting wood when I saw a moose nearby. I stalked him for awhile and finally put a shot into his right eye, knocking him to his knees. I then ran up and put a second shot into his brain.
My dad used an ancient Savage .22 with iron sights and I used a Ruger 10/22 with a scope.
