Romney's VP choice is on the horizon - probably within the next two weeks - and I personally have two favorites, both for different reasons. I absolutely love Allen West: his unswerving conservative principles, his intellect/patriotism, his unwillingness to be politically correct solely to satiate the left, which, by the way, is destroying this country. He will be branded a firebreather, and I love him for it, but I really want to see him as a presidential candidate. I’m just not sure if the most advantageous path to that goal is as a VP or to strike out on his own. Either way America needs Allen West!
My second choice is Marco Rubio. I believe Rubio offers us the greatest demographic advantage of any potential VP. If Romney doesn’t win Florida, he's done. I believe he will narrowly win the state anyway but Marco tips the scales with his supporters. I also think Rubio has the potential to begin building new bridges with the Latino vote; the black demographic is all but impervious. If he sways just 3-5% nationally, it’s a potential catapult for Romney’s chances. I am not concerned regarding his recent comments on immigration – he is clearly against illegal immigration – because he is merely stating the obvious; we need a concrete plan to deal with immigration once and for all. The American immigration debacle has dragged on way too long, mired the political landscape and fed anti-conservative stereotypes, and it’s only a matter of time before Democrats have enough votes to grant blanket amnesty and destroy our nation’s sovereignty, security, once and for all. We must act now on our own terms! If we win the Senate back in November, a historic opportunity awaits.
As for Condi, who has rapidly risen to the top of many lists in the past month, I have a few reservations. I unconditionally love her credentials: highly educated, articulate, experienced, and an unabashed conservative. However, I’m not sure how she will translate with the electorate. It’s obvious the left will try to link her with the past, Bush – which is a compliment considering Obama’s track record – and she could cause more headaches than potential gains. Sadly, a great deal of the nation, especially African Americans who will be scared into submission by the left, will never see her as black. What a sad and racist statement of America today. She is a true patriot!

Rand Paul would be a good pick too, IMO. And of course, Sarah Palin...but that’s a dream.
Your first 2 choices have no executive experience and would be in way over their heads if Romney were to drop dead (particularly Rubio).
Rubio joined McCain in lambasting Bachmann for DARING to question all of the Muslim Brotherhood/Muslims in the administration........ergo Rubio is too chickenchit to stand up for what is RIGHT, and prefers to go with the crowd of RINO’s, so he can KMA!

No way in heck he’ll pick either of those two. He wants somebody who won’t outshine him, which is going to be pretty hard, because he’s not exactly a leading light himself - he’s not very bright (just really, really ambitious!), not quick on his feet, not a good speaker. And he wants somebody who won’t be too conservative, because he has very, very liberal ideas that he has tried to cover up for the campaign and he doesn’t want to be challenged on them.
I don’t think he’ll stoop so low as to pick a GOP Joe Biden, but I bet it’s going to be pretty close.
Not MY choice, but I put my money on Portman.
If he has to count on a VP pick to win, he may as well save us all the time and concede right now.
Hopefully he wants someone who has the mental capacity and work ethic to be actively involved, can do the job, and can run the government and military. Hopefully politics, speech cadance, looks, and rock star personality have nothing to do with the decision.
Marco Rubio: Gutless RINO. A younger, Hispanic version of your average GOP-e country clubber. No thanks.
Condi Rice: For all the baggage she brings to the ticket, he may as well pick Jeb Bush. He'll get the same baggage and the governor's experience.
Not that it matters, but Obama had no executive experience but nobody held that against him. I guess if you are a Republican, you need to be qualified for the job if you are running for it. Democrats, not so much. Obama has been president for four years, and now has four years of executive experience under his belt. Does this mean he is more qualified than Alan West or Marco Rubio?
I think he should pick McDonnell of VA. He’s out as governor anyway. Condi’s a no, Portman and Pawlenty are bores and Rubio’s a disappointment. I’d prefer Gingrich but would be happy with McDonnell, or Ryan.

If you are talking purely political strategy, no, s/he probably needs not have experience. In fact, from a purely political standpoint, Rubio has the looks, speech, rock star personality to be an asset; however, in reality and America’s best interest, he frankly isn’t ready. I am speaking on the standpoint of what is best for the country. Rubio would make a good press secretary.
My feeling too. I voted for McCain because of Palin, but I’m not going to do that again. I don’t even think it’s possible to get enough votes for VP to save a losing Presidential candidate.

First question is how do you know he doesn’t want someone like that? Romney’s politics suck, but he is a seasoned and successful executive and I am sure he wants a competant right hand man, not a pretty face that can read from a teleprompter.
Second, seems a perfect fit for the VP slot considering 4-8 years down the road s/he will be the frontrunner.
I’m in the same boat. I wasted my vote on McCain because of Palin and even she can’t save Romney.
West: is GREAT! ZERO chance. Inexperienced, first term Congressman. Too conservative. It would APPEAR that we were shamelessly choosing a Black just because he's Black.
Rubio: is ineligible. Whether you believe it or not, Romney doesn't need or want the controversy. Inexperienced, first term Senator. Why chance losing a Senate seat. Hispanic? Do you really think Mexican Hispanics care about a Cuban VP?
Condaliza Rice: ZERO chance. She doesn't want it, won't accept it, and would be seen as a shameless “Twofer”, Black woman.
So, what's the answer? BOB MCDONNELL
Popular Conservative Governor of Virginia.
He wants the job. He's pro life, always has been. He has turned his state around financially. He is well spoken, attractive, & clean. Catholic. Pro gun. and on and on.
This would swing Virgina to Romney's win column and coat tail George Allen's neck & neck Senate race to the Republican column.
It is a WIN, WIN, WIN choice. There is no better choice.
Karl Rove’s BULL$HIT statement that Romney should not choose based on political reasons, but on the man who could best take over the presidency. BULL$HIT! Any of them could do that. Look at who is VP NOW.
It's 100% a political calculation, because FIRST you have to WIN! I LOVE Sarah Palin, how good of a VP has she been? What has she done as VP? Oh, .... she lost.
There isn't always a slam dunk choice for VP, but this year McDonnell is a SLAM DUNK BEST CHOICE!
Oh, and yes, he IS a “Natural Born Citizen”.
