The Virginian Pilot begins the story this way: Racism is alive and well in Virginia and is subtly manifested in Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's outreach to voters
The story is about Louise Lucas and her incendiary comments about Romney and race in a radio interview.
Democrat State Senator Louise Lucas
Is Louise Lucas the Bull Conner of Virginia? Well, they have this in common, theyre both elected Democrats and theyre both outspoken racists. They both see elections about the color of their skin, not the content of their character.
There is a difference. Bull Connor used fire hoses and police dogs to intimidate black people in his day. Louise Lucas limits herself to racist words and racist accusations to keep black people on the Democrats plantation and to teach her children to hate white people.
The black unemployment rate is over 13% and the black youth unemployment rate runs around 50% under the Obama administration, but for Lucas and her group, racial solidarity trumps jobs and opportunity. Nearly every black person who voted in 2008 voted for the black guy in a show of racial solidarity not even seen in the Jim Crow South. Lucas is working hard to keep it that way, reminding the people who heard her comments on the radio the Romney is . wait for it . WHITE.
The Virginian Pilots Julian Walker didnt want to call Lucas a racist. There is not a word of condemnation in the story from the editorial perspective, The only criticism comes from a spokesman for Gov. Bob McDonnell.
Virginian Pilot writer Julian Walker
His quotations were interspersed with explanatory remarks, so I went to a source that quoted Lucas directly, PJ Medias Bryan Preston:
SENATOR LUCAS: What I am saying to you is Mitt Romney, hes speaking to a segment of the population, who does not like to see people other than a White man in a White House or any other elected position.
Lets be real clear about it lets be real clear Mitt Romney is speaking to a group of people out there who dont like folks like Barack Obama in any elected or leadership position. We know whats going on here and some people may be afraid to say it but I am not. I am not afraid to say it. Hes speaking to that fringe out there who do not want to see anybody other than a white person in a leadership position. Senator Miller said it before she died and I agreed with her. They dont want President Barack Obama in office as President and for all the reasons that you and I and alot of other people understand. HOST: Do you really believe now that this all about race? LUCAS: I absolutely believe its all about race and for the first time Ive convinced my children finally that racism is alive and well. HOST: Even in Virginia? LUCAS: In Virginia how about all across this nation. And especially in Virginia!
Preston comments: To the extent that either candidates appeal can be fairly characterized as racist, it has to be Obamas. His campaign has African Americans for Obama and Hispanics for Obama, and Obama was certainly speaking to a segment of the population when he goaded Hispanic voters to punish their enemies, meaning people who oppose amnesty for illegal aliens. Obamas attorney general made a racist statement in congressional testimony when he referred to my people. Additionally, Obama can expect to count on about 95% of the black vote despite the fact that black unemployment far outpaces the rest of the nation. If Romney ever begins a group named White People for Romney you would have the same racist appeal that team Obama and its surrogate Louise Lucas have for black voters. But read Lucas comments again, she has managed to raise her kids as racists. That's just sad. At this point in the countrys evolution on race, it isnt white racists who are dividing us. Black racists are the ones who are keeping the wound fresh and bleeding. And they are doing it to maintain political power and wealth and for no other reason. And they have their enablers in the media who pounce on any manifestations of white expressions of racism but who avert their eyes and become curiously shy when the more virulent black racism is expressed.
UPDATE: Here's the actual show audio.
Most people just ignore this ignorant hag... she’s a race pimp from way back. We just give a pained smile and tell her, “Louise, thanks for playing. Back to your rock, now.”
Right, Louise. That's why Virginia elected Doug Wilder, the first black governor in the history of the U.S. Now, kindly STFU.
Racism is alive in America Louise, and you, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and others like you are the face of it. If racism still exists it is in large measure because you refuse to let it die and move on. I find it ironic that those who are suppossed victims of racism are so continually obsessed with racial identity. Especially for a generation of people who never experienced the truly racist conditions their parents and grandparents did. It seems to color every aspect of their lives.
This lucas fool is such a racist. Who keeps electing these pinheaded dimwits?
0bama has set race relations back 50 years, because he clearly hates whites!
Isnt it telling that the Democrat Party which gave us the KKK, Jim Crow laws, Bull Conner, Orval Faubus, and George Wallace is now claiming that minorities are too stupid to obtain valid voter identification?
Racism is not dead, but it is on life support kept alive by politicians, race hustlers and people who get a sense of superiority by denouncing others as "racists." Thomas Sowell
Thomas Sowell also observed...There seems to be something "liberating" about ignorance especially when you don't even know enough to realize how little you know. Thus an administration loaded with people who have never run any business is gung-ho to tell businesses what to do, as well as gung-ho to tell the medical profession what to do, lenders whom to lend to, and the military how to fight wars.
