You can’t really run a very positive ad if you’re challenging an incumbent. I mean, would “Morning in America” work for Romney, now - I don’t think so. The key is to connect to the little people, and he’s done that. I do hope there’s a Spanish version of it too, as Hispanics have a tendency to operate lots of small businesses and work their tails off - it would be VERY EFFECTIVE.
LOCALIZE the ad to run in each individual market! Find a well-respected LOCAL small businessman or woman (minorities welcome) and splice in their comments! Then run that ad in each TV market. Do it!
