This article disturbed me, as well. On Twitter I’ve seen posts that cite “900” as the number of EO’s Obama has signed. If I go to the Federal Register, they say he has signed just over 100, none of which carry the numbers cited on various internet sources I’ve seen. Granted, the Executive Orders are each very long and complicated, but I’d like very much to know the source of all these orders, especially things like #11004 wherein Housing & Finance are given authority to relocate people and establish new locations for populations, and #11000 allowing for the creation of government-supervised civilian work brigades (those two chilled me to the bone!). If all are true, the coup is a *done deal*.
I am not so naive as to think every EO is available to the public at the Federal Register, considering national security concerns, and some - perhaps most - are classified. But where are all these people getting their information? What am I missing, here???
It is confusing - some websites may be including some of the memorandums and proclamations.
Obama’s first Executive order was 13489 and the last numbered EO is 13619. There is one additional EO that hasn’t received a number yet - dated July 20, 2012.

Keep in mind that some EO’s from previous presidents have been revoked or amended by presidents who follow. So just because the EO is on the list doesn’t necessarily mean that it is still in effect.

Executive Orders have been used by every chief executive since the time of George Washington. Most of these directives were unpublished and were only seen by the agencies involved. In the early 1900s, the State Department began numbering them; there are now over 13,000 numbered orders. Orders were retroactively numbered going back to 1862 when President Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus and issued the Emancipation Proclamation by Executive Order. There are also many other Executive Orders that have not been numbered because they have been lost due to bad record-keeping. Such is not the problem today. All new Executive Orders are easily accessible (see below).
