Some interesting choices with a Number 2 that I never heard of.

The story I heard was that U2s were being regularly shot down, but the pilots died. This information was suppressed by the government and new volunteers were constantly recruited to fly over the Soviet Union.
Powers put the kibosh on the whole scheme by being shot down, but surviving.
I’ll meet your Andersonville and raise you a Camp Douglas. Think you can beat that hand?
Were you king George?
I personally am glad the north won but don’t believe it needed to come at the expense of states rights. Had Lincoln lived, I think we would all be better off today. His death handed power to radicals who sought to punish the south.
In my opinion, the Freesoil party had the right idea on how to avoid a war. They favored containment of slavery (which was just a representative issue). Slavery and the economic issues involved were dying anyway.
That's in Pennsylvania
The settlers at what is now Vincinnes, Indiana, weren't just French speaking. A number of them had served as White Coats in the defense of America against the Brits in 1754. As soon as George Rogers Clark's men had secured the area, they formed a militia and resumed the war of defense against England.
Then there were the men of the Cahokia Militia. They moved rapidly against British forces (mostly Indians) along the St. Joseph River in Michigan and Indiana ~ under the flag of Spain!
I had ancestors in all those bodies ~ the Cahokia militia, the Vincinnes militia, Clark's army and later his territorial militia.
That was literally an international force ~ the 'Allies' I think we'd call them, joined together against the forces of invasion and impression. I doubt any of them thought of themselves as anything but patriots.
They weren’t in D.C. All of the soldiers’ deaths were in the south, with the exception of Pennsylvania. Maybe you should read up on why Lee went there.
Well, doggone, that's really good to know.
(Notice I'm ignoring your use of "The Souf'" since I know you really meant 'Confederacy')
Sadly, if a state attempted to leave this WONDERFUL federal government we have in place today, the Lincoln/Yankee lovers would side with obama. It’s a waste of time to argue.
After my blood boils a little and I get into it with one of these guys and I realize their first post contains the word “rebel”, I know I’m talking to a piece of hardwood. Our Founding Fathers, including my g-g-g-g-g-grandfather who signed the Mecklenberg Resolution and was given 1,000 acres for serving in the NC Militia at Cowpens, were rebels. Those fighting for the confederacy were not rebels. They were “leavers”.
I’m Canadian and even I know that the civil war should of been called the war of northern aggression. You’re either trolling, or have no idea about history.
I’m not sure I’d believe that one.
The basic mission profile of a U-2 was “Takeoff ... climb until engine flames out (around 60000 or 70000 ft) ... glide until reaching engine relight altitude ... relight engine ... repeat as required”.
It was only when the airplane was down near the relight altitude that it was even possible (at the time) for the Soviets to shoot it down.
And that was what Oswald supposedly told the Soviets.
I have no idea what the actual veracity of either story is.
Emanuel McConnell, who was with the South Carolina forces of freedom from beginning to end, even when it was down to just 3 guys, took his Revolutionary War patents in Kentucky. His chillun' moved on to Indiana and North Dakota ~ except for a remnant who stayed in Kentucky.
So, Cowpens?
Things aren't done that way.
Obama is into black nationalism. They’d like their own country. I’m sure many people would welcome that ~ the occupants of the selected “new country’ might not of course.
Lee? A traitor? LOL...looks like Ms. Currie has some sand in his mangina with regards to southerners...
Bill Clinton - sold missile technology to China for campaign cash.
I didn’t say those from Mizzou, Maryland, etc didn’t die. I said they didn’t die in the North. They died on the Southern soil they invaded with the purpose of overthrowing the Confederate Government.
Damn! Once again I got suckered into argueing with a piece of hardwood. It won’t happen again.
For some of you Souvrn'rs the Civil War started with Lincoln's inauguration. For some of us Northerners the Civil War started a good 10 years earlier in Kansas and Nebraska BUT ALSO in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Maryland where Abolitionists hunted down slave catchers and disposed of them like the trash they were.
I bet you missed that part ~ I learned of it when i was about 4 years old.
