The latest warning signs are, once again, popping up in Europe and should be taken seriously, as it is only a matter of time before such events play out in the rest of the world, including right here at home:

That seems to be something of an oxymoron. I have looked and deep cycle batteries are good but they ain't cheap. Where do you get the cheap ones?
Do you have insurance of any kind? Same principal. If nothing else it’s a hedge against inflation, unemployment, financial rough times or other bumps in the road.
If you don’t believe in prepping then no one is making you so don’t worry about it.
Hard asset? Oh yeah. You could probably bounce a quarter off of it.

Try Dr. Bronner’s. in a pinch, you can even use it for toothpaste.
THere are very few ingredients in it, no horrid fragrances (shudder), no tallow, I think there are about 4 or 5 ingredients, made with coconut oil.
Rinses very quickly - I think the motto is “rinses in a flash” and it’s true. Doesn’t leave the skin sticky.
I use it for my waist length hair.
When I’m down to 100 bars I buy more....
I live way, way, waaay out in the boonies, among mountains, so less chance any gov stuff would be interested in this area. But I figure the collapse that is on the way will collapse the fedgov right quick too, or pretty quickly. Can’t worry about everything.

I just got interested in making my laundry detergent. It seems that I’m not the only one doing that either. The Fels-Naptha soap, washing soda, and borax are now stored side by side at our local Walmart. I bought the ingredients yesterday. When I went through the checkout line, the cashier ask if I was making my own detergent. She said she had a friend who was doing that. I read somewhere that it costs about 7 cents per wash load. Ingredients are a lot cheaper at Walmart than at Lehmans. :)

BTW the people I’ve talked to when ordering the soap told me that there are several plants in the US that manufacture Kirks; it was and may still be made also in Guatemala, I don’t think it’s made in the PI as suggested in the soap review.
The bars you buy in the store are very slightly different from the bars you buy directly from Kirks via their website or by phone. The soap directly from Kirks is the kind they used to make - very slightly translucent, a bit harder, and doesn’t break up when small as easily. The other kind, in stores, is whiter, more opaque, and seems to break up into smaller pieces more readily.
I asked them about this and they told me it was the same ingredients, just different manufacturing processes at (IIRC) three different soap making plants.
Also, as of the last time I ordere (less than 2 years ago, maybe even 1 year ago), Kirks is again independently owned. Proctor and Gamble bought it at some time in the past, and has sold it, so now it is a small independent company again.
That is my soap review! And I like the wrapper, it’s just the same as in 1971 when I first used that soap.
I’ve been planning to try making that detergent, too. I won’t use Fels unfortunately, because they’ve added some nasty perfume to it; if I could get the old Fels I would. I am allergic to all artificial fragrances (asthma) and that is one reason I use Kirks for bathing and washing hair. I figure Kirks would work for the soap in the detergent recipe, or maybe even Dr. Bronners, I have a few gallons of that, and it’s not as good as it used to be anyway.
At first gold and silver will be pretty much useless. As the sitation stabilizes at a much lower level, as people get used to it, gold and silver will become useful. For a very short initial period i imagine cash will be good but the value of it will decline to nothing pretty quickly.
I might try that. I have to be careful with soap I use on my face. My skin is so sensitive that soaps like Ivory, Dove, etc. burn it like sunburn. Creams like Oil of Olay are a no-no, too. I tried Merle Norman soap once, and you should have seen me. I literally peeled. Jergens works fine and is inexpensive enough. I’m almost afraid to try anything else.
There is a really quick effective way to wipe out a root canal abscess.
You can get a ‘Hulda Clark” zapper on Ebay for around $25 and fit it out with longer wires, and a large handle on the negative wire, and a small probe for the positive wire.
Then zap the gum around the affected tooth for three 10 minute sessions, holding the handle in one hand (damp) and the probe in the other hand against the gum.
Warning: do not touch any metal fillings or crowns! (it really zings)
Your Lomatium is a good choice topically, but do not swallow it, or you may have digestive issues for a long time. (same as any antibiotic except garlic)
I make lomatium tincture and use it for flu and other respiratory ailments; never had or noticed any digestive upsets, nor have clients mentioned it. I started making it after reading that native tribe people in Nevada did not die from flu in the 1918 flu pandemic due to their use of lomatium.
It does taste horrible, it’s a strange root, sticky. Grows over much of the west, but not right where I live, so I had to buy it.

I never, ever use soap on my face. Just water and washcloth, also make my own skin oils. If you want something that cleans very well without any irritation, try making a paste with oatflour, works very well. Can be mixed with other stuff like milk, yogurt, powdered herbs of some kinds like turmeric, or rosewater. Makes the skin feel like baby skin.
Sounds like a useful thing for dentists are hard to find. Or instead of. I hate going to dentists and have considered getting vet tooth pliars, in cases of emergency bad teeth; people used to sometimes die of bad teeth. But there are so many kinds of tooth pliars I gave up.
I am also looking into herbs that build dental enamel..
