There was a huge run on ammo before the Zer0-1 election. There is currently a huge run before Zer0-2. I think guns and ammo are first for preppers. Food is second. Alarm systems (dogs) that work without electricity is third. A community watch is up there if you don’t have lib-traitor spy neighbors, which I am sure all of us will suffer under.

Doubters and preppers will each get a chance to see if they chose the best path.
It is the philosophy of self reliance versus the belief that we cannot cannot affect our own destiny - and anyway, the government will take care of us.
If there is no SHTF scenario neither is negatively affected and the prepper has a nice stock of consumables on hand, purchased before market prices jumped after the most recent rounds of inflation.

You’re also more susceptible to attack by large groups or forced relocation by the govt.
4 or 5 people on a farm would be easy to overtake by a well disciplined group. Especially if a couple are caught out working in the fields.

Eric Holder and the Zer0 regime set up a gun running scheme they planned to blame on us to outlaw private guns. We would have had a death penalty if any non-goobermint regime did it. Forget "hard assets" when Armageddon strikes. Then, the only assets will be edible assets. The only thing on survivors' minds will be, "where do I get my next meal?"
As one other poster stated, its like an insurance policy. If nothing happens then I have a few more guns, ammo, a nice knife and some food I’ll mostly eat anyway.

I live in the USA, so instead of individual effort, I am as bad off as every one else. Can you spare a dime or $1K. I promise not to give you anything back, but audits and grief like Zer0 does.
You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become their‘serf’.
As for me I don’t want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly don’t want to have to kiss some ‘gubberment’ third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I don’t want some ‘jack booted’ thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I don’t want to be shut up in with a bunch of ‘zombies’ and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.
Now you seem to think that prepping is foolish, so I ask you what’s easier telling your children and loved ones why you prepared or explaining to them why you didn’t?

Face it we’ve kicked the financial can so far down the road that we are running out of road and the can which was once the size of a soda can is now the size of an oil drum (Try kicking that!)

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.
As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”
